| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 13, 2009 Wow, retired. That makes this extra special! ha. Pours a clear but very dark seemingly dull/opaque reddish chocolate color with a really nice dense creamy slightly off-white head. Aroma is sweet, grainy, malt flour, a bit roasty, balanced caramel, pretty nice. Flavor follows, a bit smokey, porter like roastiness, a little sweet tanginess, finishing sweet roasty with lots of caramel notes, long smokey bitter chocolate aftertaste but still some sour sweet tang that lingers. Medium bodied, just slightly chewy with great fine fizzy sizzling carbonation. Pretty darn good, love the smokiness! deyholla (781), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
