Pours almost black, just the slightest of ruby highlights, with a large persistent tan head. Rich roasted malt aroma of dark chocolate, hazelnut praline, Irish cream and morning cappuccinos. Later on some dark fruits start to show, mainly cherry and plums. Upon tasting, I’ve gotta say that this beer is amazingly creamy. As in Irish cream creamy. Loads of the stuff. Also milk chocolate, with some roasted grains bravely trying to cut through the sweetness, but failing miserably. The alcohol is noticeable, but in no way harsh or overpowering. I would have liked the body to be chewier, but really, there’s little to complain about in the mouthfeel.

Big beer. Very brash. Poured a thick brown with quickly disappainting head. Nose is alcohol and pudding. Mouthful is up front, heavy body and lingering alcohol. A little sweet and syrupy but never cloying. Very enjoyable. Could imagine downing a few of these on a cold western european night.

Bottle. Pours near-black with a medium brown head. Aroma is malty and roasty. Flavor is mostly roast malt, with a complexity and uniqueness not often found in American porters.

Dark brown with nearly no head. Sweet aroma with hard roasted malt, chocolate and rye bread. Flavour was sweet with hard roasted malt, chocolate and breadish notes.

Bottle from The Party Source. Pours a near black color with a huge rocky tan head that leaves heavy lacing on the glass. Sweet, chocolaty aroma, with caramel, coffee, and roast. Sweet, malty flavor, with dark chocolate, caramel, sugar, dark fruit, coffee, molasses, vanilla, alchohol, and metallic notes. Medium bodied, with a grainy and buttery mouthfeel. Unusual, but a solid Baltic porter.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a little tan head which disappears very quickly. Aroma is sweet and has notes of mocha and malt with a faint metallic smell that is a bit off-putting. Flavour is also sweet, in fact it reminds me of black coffee with about seven sugars in it, however there are also hints of dark fruit and malt. Not terrible but not great either.

50cl bottle from Whole Foods (Tampa, FL). Pours a impenetrable dark brown to black with massive two finger tan foamy head that settles slowly and heavily laces the glass. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of caramel, earthy goodness, light burnt coffee, some hints of chocolate, brown sugar, toffee, caramel. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of sweet candy sugar, chocolate, ripe dark fruit, prunes, brown sugar and caramel. Generally medium body with a sweet malty finish.
