Appears a hazy, dark brown with a red hue. An off white head slowly fades out and leaves streaky lacing around the glass.
Smell is of chalky, cocoa, caramel, and some grassy notes.
Taste is of the given aromas with the caramel and cocoa making for a somewhat sweet beverage that is still palatable and pretty darn good.
Mouthfeel is mildly grainy with lingering of cocoa, and sweet cola on the tongue...weird that hopdog also got the cola thing as well. jason (1623), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

Pretty good aroma with a mild chocolate and malt smell. Decent body with a thin head that thinnned out too quick. Decently balanced flavor but not as flavorfull as I was expecting. Flavor of chocolate and malts and slightly bittersweet. tomthompson89 (1488), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

I would recommend this beer for a nice cold winter evening. Well done. Slacks (485), Bolton, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 16, 2006 500ml Bottle: Poured deep cherry brown, one-finger worth of head that soon fell to nothing. The aroma is complex and pleasant featuring lots of chocolate, booze-soaked cherries, black licorice, composting vegetables, and molasses. The flavour really shines, launching as an all-chocolate experience on the first sip before showing all it has to offer. Hints of all the above while adding in figs, dates, vanilla. Wow, adding in a rich body as it warms I have to say this far improves on my expectations. Excellent. coldbrewky (730), Saugerties, New York, USA
