I would recommend this beer for a nice cold winter evening. Well done. Slacks (488), Bolton, Ontario, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 16, 2006 500ml Bottle: Poured deep cherry brown, one-finger worth of head that soon fell to nothing. The aroma is complex and pleasant featuring lots of chocolate, booze-soaked cherries, black licorice, composting vegetables, and molasses. The flavour really shines, launching as an all-chocolate experience on the first sip before showing all it has to offer. Hints of all the above while adding in figs, dates, vanilla. Wow, adding in a rich body as it warms I have to say this far improves on my expectations. Excellent. coldbrewky (738), Saugerties, New York, USA

Aromas are very smokey, dark chocolate, vanilla, butterscotch, molasses, hazelnuts, raisins, liquorice... WOW great aromas! PERFECT, can i say it again, perfect palate!... great balance, incredible long lasting flavors. Creamy, you can feel the alcohol. There’s a scotch ale twist with a nice mix of a stout and a dopplebock. Added flavors of maple syrup.
