Jul 13, 2006 Thanks to Secret Santa for this one. Pours very dark brownish black with a 2-finger uniform tan head. Great appearance...a definite 5. The aroma is big roasty malt, with some molasses, dark chocolate, and slight tart cherry hints. The flavor is roasty malty, very chocolate syrupy and a bit on the sweet side with some finishing molasses and nutty hints, and a little bit of spicy almondy nutmeggy notes as it warmed. Dense and very complex palate. This is a wonderful beer.

Jun 30, 2006 Bottle sampled with Beerded_one. Pours dark with a large tan head. Aroma of citrus, dark fruit, roasted malts, nuts, chocolate. Flavor is smooth, citrus, chocolate, dark fruit, smoothness. Good body good brew.

Jun 26, 2006 nose is grainy with some alcohol present. flavor is a decent blend of chocolate, coffee, grainsand more chocolate on the finish. rather thin but overall pretty good.

Jun 23, 2006 Welcome back after being gone for two years. Pours a dark brown with a dark tan head. Excellent lacing on the glass. The aroma is of chocolate malts, well roasted. The flavor is of the same roasted chocolate, with some toffee, and a little smokey flavor. A nice hop finish to even things out. A nice Baltic porter.

Jun 21, 2006 Dark brown in color with a brown frothy head. Aroma is sweet chocolate and alcohol. Flavor is very sweet as well as the finish. The beer looked good and I expected more, but it is just way too sweet for me.

Jun 9, 2006 This wasnt too bad. Poured a reddish black with not head. Aroma is alcohol, chocolate, and roasted peanuts. Flavor is a bit strong...lots of alcohol and bittersweet chocolate (very sweet)...some serious acidity aswell. Medium dry body.

Jun 9, 2006 A very nice showing, this one poured a brown to mahoganey color with a nice thick initial tan head. The head lasted for about five minutes and subsided to a thin topping, all the while providing nice lacing. Aroma was a roasted chocolate. The flavor definitely featured lightly roasted and sweet chocolate, along with some licorice, some toffee, and even vinous notes. The finish was lightly hopped with a bit of dryness. Obviously, a heavy body, but there was a bit of a grainy mouthfeel to it all. Enjoyable.
