(02.14.06) 500 mL bottle purchased online from Beergeek.com 8.3% ABV. Black hued porter having a small off-white head. Soft carbonation. Intoxicating aroma of fruity roasted malt. Medium-to-full bodied porter that starts with light malt sweetness and cacophony of raisin, prune, and roasted malt flavors. Finishes with light roasted malt flavor and lingering bitterness. Smooth, creamy, and full of flavors.. Simply delicious. Bardzo smaczne, dziekuje Okocim!

Another good baltic provided by MDs, thanks Mike! Opaque pour, with a thick mocha cap. Coffe, roasted malt, milk chocolate, and campfire all fill the nose. Nice! Sweet roasted malt and dark rum are all here for the mouth party, and are welcome! Bitter coffee, chocolate too! A good flavour profile. Boozey and warming. ABV is noticable, but pleasant. Thanks mike!

500ml bottle
Pours deep dark opaque brown with some ruby on the edges if held up to a light. Medium fluffy tan head forms that sticks around for a while, then settles to a thin layer on the top and remains for the duration. Pleasingly complex aroma of bready malt, some roast grain, licorice and pepper. Flavor similarly complex, with big sweet malt hitting first, then medium roast grain, then a dash of spicy peppery hop and licorice. Smooth alcohol underlies the whole package. Thinnish mouthfeel, medium creamy palate with growing bitter aftertaste. Quite a fine concoction.

From the bottle, pours a very dark black with a thin, off-white head that leaves a nice lacing. Not too much in the nose, maybe some chocolate. Tastes very smooth, and not the freezer-burned chocolate found in most other porters I’ve tried. Sweeter than most porters, reminiscent of a Tripel. Not bitter, just smooth and sweet. Not half-bad.

Bottle... Clear, very dark, ruby ale with a small, creamy, beige head. So-so retention. The aroma and flavor are chocolatey with notes of cola, black cherries and brown sugar. Cloyingly sweet, though. Lightly acetic. Full-bodied and sticky with soft carbonation. Finishes sickeningly sweet. Not my bag at all... but thanks go out to DarkElf for sending the bottle my way to give it a go!

Had this at the Vail Beer Fest. 2-oz. sample from a snifter. The beer was a clear, dark—nearly opaque—brown color with a small, frothy, light-brown, mostly diminishing head. The aroma was overall pretty malty sweet and sexy. The malty notes were moderate-to-heavy with notes of caramel, molasses, chocolate and coffee. There was also a light yeasty note of basement and miscellaneous notes of light vanilla and moderate raisin. The flavor was moderately sweet and lightly bitter with a long, heavily sweet, moderately bitter finish that ends with a smokey flash. The body was medium-to-full, the texture was almost-velvety and the carbonation was soft.

Bottle from the <a href=http://www.lcbo.com target=blank>LCBO in Toronto. Very deep ruby-brown in colour, thin beige coloured head, lingering lace. The aroma was of roasted coffee beans, licorice, chocolate, molasses, some alcohol. The flavour was quite malty (caramel and chocolate), roasty and burnt, dark fruits, slightly sweet. Buttery mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes with a long lingering bitterness. Very good.

Bottle from LCBO. Black body with a big tan head. Acidic aroma of mild roast, muted chocolate and malt. Alcohol makes itself known in both the aroma and flavour but not abrasively so. Flavour is warming, sweet malt up front with chocolate highlights gives way to mildly acidic roast and muted dark fruit. Average to medium palate (3+) Lingering malted milk or ovaltine in the aftertaste. Quite nice, a bargain for the price. Pleasantly surprised by this one.
