| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 19, 2009 This is the best $6 you will spend on beer in the Australian market this year. Very very black in colour and a very thin coffee coloured head. Nose is low frills with dark roast and equally dark chocolate. Quite serious. Flavours completely seduce me with lashings of rich chocolate, rum fruits, chocolate biscuits, and a intense sweet licorice finish. Holds the 8% very well. Heaps of fun here. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 13, 2009 Pours dark brown with a bit of a cola like carbonation and a small light tan short lasting head. Aroma is very heavy chocolate, some caramel and dark fruits jumping out as well though not nearly as strongly as the chocolate. Flavor starts out with a strong burst of what can only be described as a strange syrupy almost medicine taste. Once you get past that though it opens nicely into a chocolate and brown sugar sweetness. There is a nice sort of sweet bread type of kick as well. The other problem I have with the flavor is that is stays sweet through the finish, never gets a balance of bitterness which left my mouth tasting of candy and sugar in the finish. Medium to full body and moderate carbonation. Not terrible but it’s just too overly sweet and candyish for me. GranvilleTim (520), Granville, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 12, 2009 Wanted to try a beer from Poland and I like porters so... Poured a brownish-black with a dark tan head. Had aroma of roasted malt, some sweetness, and chocolate. Tasted sweet along with roasted malt, slight chocolate, and bitterness toward the end. It left a nice lacing on the glass. Alcohol was well-balanced with the flavor of the beer. nate2g (1138), Brisbane, Australia
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 11, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a nice beige head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, dark fruit and brown sugar. Flavour is bready malt, chocolate and caramel. The palate is slightly sweet but well balanced, I really enjoyed this beer. kimcgolf (835), Dacula, Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Mar 6, 2009 Pours to a dark brown with a ruby tint at the bottom and a thin tan head that lingers thru mid-glass and leaves decent lacing. Aroma right out of the bottle is a malty mix of chocolate, toffe and dark fruits, and mouthfeel is full and sweet. Taste follows in step with the nose and the 8.3% alcohol enters into both the nose and mouth at mid-glass. This all rounds off to a nice, long warming finish. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 26, 2009 Pours clear with the deepest brown color conceivable. Nice big head fates into a small head with plenty of retention and plenty of lace. Aroma is chocolate, raisins, molasses and alcohol. Flavor is nice, very different... well maybe not. This is very honestly the first Baltic porter I have ever sampled. Never the less I’ve never quite tasted a beer like this. The flavor is at first very sweet, almost candy sweet with a good dry finish that keeps you drinking. If it finished the way it started I’m not sure it would be a very nice beer at all. Never the less there is a milk chocolate flavor well complimented by dark fruits of plum and raisin with some nice molasses notes. The finish like I said before is dry not much hops but certainly some roasty malts and some very dry cider notes. Palate is very full and round. I’ll be honest this is a great beer for the three dollars I paid for it. SHANER4 (385), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 16, 2009 500ml bottle - Poured dark brown with thin head.
Aroma - green olives, coffee and thats about it.
Flavor - watered down coffee and capuccino.
Palate - light very thin mouthfeel with below average carbonation. alcohol is not detectable with cocoa finish.
Overall - Initial aroma was all green olives and then faded, thought this beer would be really bad!? First few sips were subpar and became better as I drank. I actually started to enjoy this beer as it began to breath. Had this dark chocolate flavor with mild vanilla finish. OK beer and at $1.99 for 500ml is a bargain at 8.3% ABV. jebb12 (39), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 16, 2009 Not a bad beer - sweetness dominated the overall palate. I was expecting more roastiness to offset the malty sugars but none manifest itself.
