Slightly brownish head that trails off quickly, over a deep brown body. Sweet smell of molasses and RC Cola, and a bit of milk stout. Taste is a little thin, kind of like a Malto Goya instead of a "regular" porter. Light astingency like an iced tea sweetened with molasses. Alcohol is kind of sneaky, but I can feel myself getting a wee bit numb. Leaves behing a sticky, milky aftertaste. I can see I’ll need to taste several at once to get a better range on this style. Lukcily, it’s becoming popular in these parts. Goes good with bitten nails. C’mon, Sox! Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA

This beer has sweet chocolate aromas with some leathery alcohol, rum rasin-big alcohol on the nose, especially for 8.3%. chocolate , rum rasin and lots of astringent sweetness. Alcohol also noticible in the finish. some light roast under all that sweetness and baking chocolate like flavors. this beer needs better balance to be a great baltic. as it warmed a little, a light smoke on the finish. pintbypint (1007), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Deminishes slightly but is still full and smooth. Chocolate and light roasted malt aroma. Quite a rich flavour of strong dark malts, chocolaty, roasted notes with some noticable alcohol warming. Robust body. hair-old (137), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Sweet roasted malt flavor with a nice dry bitter chocolate finish. Alcohol well hidden. This tastes especially good, perhaps because it has been so hard to find Baltic Porters in the area. redmosquito (172), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 24, 2005 Dark reddish brown with a light brown head that left lace along the sides of the glass. Dense malt aroma, the smell of toasted base malt is intense, giving the porter a scent reminiscent of barley wine. There is an underlying blanket of roasted malt there too, like mild coffee and dark chocolate. The flavor is sweet malt and roasted malt with balance coming from the black malt bitterness. This beer doesn’t give any hint of 8%. The sweetness in the flavor gives plenty of body, but the density of the flavor goes beyond that with a nice lingering roasted chocolate flavor. This is my first true Baltic Porter, but it will bring me back for more that is sure. An excellent beer. GregClow (2496), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 22, 2005 Bottle from LCBO. Dark roby-brown body with a medium mocha head. Interesting aroma - definately some smoke in there, a bit of coffee, some dark fruit that I can’t place. Good mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet and slightly astringent - notes of bitter chocolate, licorice, malt, fresh roasted coffee. Alcohol comes through a bit when it warms, but I usually drink it too fast to notice. This is some fine stuff - nice to see the LCBO actually bring in something decent from Eastern Europe!
