Pours black with a tan head with decent retention. Very nice aroma of brown sugar, prunes, caramel, and a dusting of cocoa. Unfortunately, compared to the aroma, the flavor was kind of hollow. Some raisin and dark chocolate, with a watery finish. Decent mouthfeel. The aroma had me thinking I had found a diamond in the rough, but alas the flavor didn’t finish what the aroma started.

Pitch black coloured body-very opaque-no light coming through at all. No head to speak of either. Aroma of chocolate, roasted oatmeal, black cherries & coffee. Medium to Full-bodied; Odd meaty & mushroomy flavour - very strong with some sweet tastes & a hint of vanilla soon following. Aftertaste shows a softer beer - but you do have to make it through the initial tastes. Overall, too strong - in a bad way, but it was nice to try after seeing it for the first time. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 03-September-2005 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Blackish hue with a creamy white head. Moderately full-bodied. Caramel aromas have complex espresso and winey nuances. Rounded, smooth and chewy, with a vinous character that never tastes heavily burnt. Outstandingly complex and subtle.

black, whispy tan head, sweety malt aroma with hidden roaqsted character, sweet flavor with just a touch of roastedness, sweet finish, much like a milk stout 5/25: no sweetness, lots of malt based bitterness

750 ml. Bottle, found this one on the shelf by itself at Sun Devil Liquers one day. Owner was checking out the beer and said she hadn’t seen that sold here in 8 years. Aroma was sweet fruit along with some toffee and chocolate. Body pour was like 10,000 mile old engine oil and good chocolate milk head. Flavor had a sweet fruit and mild coco at start. On the finish the chocolate flavors were present and took away the sweet flavor. Dry coffee on the palate. Good beer,

Poured a deep, oily, thick black with a tan head that was foamy and faded. Smells really malty, made my mouth water, dark chocolate and soy in the aroma. Flavor is subtle compared to the appearance. Plums, brown sugar, molasses, caramel, toffee, malt malt malt. Finish is dry and just a little medicinal. Nice beer overall.

Pours a rich opaque black with a thin ring of light tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, some roasty dark chocolate, dark fruits and soy sauce with a hint of tartness. First sip is of rich toffee molasses and with a touch of brown sugar and raisiny complexity. Thins some toward the drier finish, but has good authenticity. A decent and interesting foreign stout.

pours out fairly dark with a nice mocha head. Definently some nice lacing going on here. Light licorice, coffee, and alcohol in the nose. Tastes of light coffee and bakers chocolate. I can also detect some dry wine flavor. Not too bad of a stout at all.
