Perfectly opaque.. Big light brown head leaves great lacing. Smell is roasted malts, chocolate, and way too much grape to make this a serious stout contender. Vinuous. Tasts follows suit with a merlot grape flavor with some sweet cherry. Chocolate. Drying bittersweet ending with some mild coffee.

Bottle shared with tupalev at Chester’s Beers of the World in Hamilton. No idea how old this bottle is. Pours black with a light brown rocky head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and fruit. Flavour of roasted coffee, chocolate, mild hops and malt. Nice sweet creamy stout, not very bitter. Went down very smoothly and was very enjoyable.

Bottle, who knows how old, Chester’s, Hamilton. Shared with Blankboy. 710 ml bottle. Aroma of an old porter - acidic and more than a little old and bottle like. Black pour, medium tan head. Once you get past the stale smell, - roasted and chocolate aroma. Taste is again at first stale, but then very sweet and roasted - this was almost dessert like in its sweetness. Medium to full bodied. Almost a buttery like quality to the whole package. Much more chocolate as it warms. Quite enjoyable and a rare find.

Pitch black with a small light brown head. Aroma of roastiness, rum raisin and some sourness. Tart with a hint of sourness. Taste has notes of roasted malt, dark fruit, coffee, burnt chocolate and a slight twinge of alcohol. Very odd aftertaste that I could not put my finger on. Pretty full and round on the palate with subtle carbonation. Solid stuff but there was something about the taste that I wasn’t diggin’ too much.

Pitch black moderate head. Aroma is fruit sweet and roasty The aroma reminds me of kaluwa. Flavor is burnt and sweet, and the hops surface here a little bit, I guessing fuggles. Moderate body, mouthfeel is slightly oily. Sweet finish. Well done mates!

Black colouring with a decent sized off-white head which evaporates in no time. Sweet, Roasted Coffee, Chocolate aroma. Roasted Coffee, chocolatey malty flavour. Medium to thin body. Worth a guzzle.

Pitch black body topped by a decent looking tan head that collapses a little too quickly for its own good. The aroma is very much that of a mild bourbon or sctoch whisky. Peat, smoke and sweetness, that is the story here. The flavor is roasted chcolate with a touch of coffee. The whisky that was so evident in the nose is much more subdued in the flavor but is still there. Some hop bitterness comes into lay right after the swallow. The body is medium, seems like it would have been bigger based on the oily pour. Not half bad really. The flavors are certainly a tad overdone but ten again so are many Imperial Stouts.
