| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | May 31, 2004 Very dark brown color with a medium brown head and lots of yeast sediment. Roasted coffee, chocolate, and black licorice aroma. Nicely balanced roasted coffee, black licorice, chocolate and malt flavors. Fairly thin feel, with medium carbonation. A good session stout, but a little thin for my taste. bb (2941), Martinez, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 28, 2004 Bottle. Black with a beige head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and a slight roastiness. It’s got a full flavor (malty/roasty) with a clean finish. There’s a lingering hopiness, but overall it’s very easy to drink. Nicely put together. Maybe it’s because I’m so tired of over-the-top oatmeal versions of stout that I actually enjoyed this one. Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 8, 2004 The taste of this seems to reside somewhere between "dry stout" and "sweet stout" - mild roasts and mild sweetness - just all around mild. Not that there's anything wrong with that - This is a fine easy drinking stout. elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 8, 2004 Could not be much darker in the glass, nice tan head that laces well. Some cocoa, coffee and malt in the nose. Flavor follows the nose, body was a bit light, some bitterness in the finish. Not a bad stout at all, ended up sipping it as an after dinner drink and it got better as it warmed. hershiser2 (923), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 4, 2004 Nearly black, with a two-inch deep tan head.
A bit soured in the nose, not overly appealing.
A decent flavor, but it's almost like "Stout Lite." Nothing special about this brew, though it's not bad.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 1, 2004 MMMMmmmmmmm stout...stout is good for you. It pours a deep black, little to no hints of light entering, so thats a good sign to start. Heavyily carbonated and leaning with a light carbonated tan sheet which dissipated quickly but left a frothy island in the middle of my beer. The aroma was weak, with hints of coffee and wood. The flavor is predominantly coffee. The aftertaste reeks of dry malt, and used cardboard...very papery. Slight bittering end, but overall, this became pretty boring near the finish. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 13, 2004 I was suprised to see this for only $2 a bottle, lets hope it has nothing reflecting on its quality. Nose is slightly acidic, coffee roasted malt. Head is minimal, topping off a nice black body. Flavor could us a little more depth, it comes off at first with a decent hop bitterness, then fades back into more of a watery feel.
