12oz bottle from wetherel, he got it via trade with MagicDave. 2005 Vintage. 10th beer of the tasting I hosted tonight, shared with bikesandbeer, wetherel and my girlfriend Cyn. Pours blakc with a 1/4 finger light brown head. Nose is sweet and robust, its very dark, if I can use color to describe smell. Taste is sweet and malty and viscous, with some nice coffee taste. Very very nice impy, crisp, nice and very clean. great beer.

Father’s Day weekend 2008 gift to self, part 2. 275ml bottle, brewed 9.11.2005, with a major thank you shout out to cgarvieuk for this special beer! Pours a dark brown/black with a foamy two finger cinnamon brown head, minimal lacing. Aroma is quite heady and enjoyable, with rich milk chocolate, espresso, molasses, vanilla, brown sugar, oak, and some dark fruits - very nice. Flavor dials the intensity up a slight notch to maintain attention, but doesn’t move into being overdone. More milk chocolate, vanilla, oak, espresso and dark fruits. The thick and creamy mouthfeel does a nice job of accentuating the blend of flavors. Well done all the way around, and a very enjoyable beer. Thanks again Craig!

Okay...I’m finally entering this rating after the 2007 RBSG. My notes, at this point in the night are difficult to decipher, but after much internal debate I’m letting the ticker in me preside.
Dark, small tan head. Sweet aroma, molasses. Roasted, alcohol, some bitter. Updated: Dark almost black, aroma is principally olive, soy, chocolate. Very velvety on the tongue. The flavour is quite nice, chocolate, some vanilla, a bit of a bourbon flavor to it with a tad bit of wood to it. Nice change of pace stout, not super over the top, just good and mild.

Bottle (275ml) shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev & garthicus -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. 2005 vintage. Pours black with a frothy light-brown head -- oily looking. Aroma has a nice amount of oak, it’s well balanced with the roasted malt along with vanilla, spices, coffee and more -- smells great! Flavour of oak, vanilla and roasted malt along with notes of bourbon, coffee and chocolate and more -- lots going on here. Alcohol’s well hidden. Thick oily mouthfeel. Fantastic, what a wonderful treat this beer is!

Bottle shared with Garthicus, Hogtown Harry, and Blankboy, courtesy of courtesy of Harry. Very pleasant oak, wood aroma. Pitch black, small thick tan head. Very nice taste - lots of oak, lots of dry wood, just a hint of vanilla. Not overpowering at all, actually a light mouthfeel. Very drinkable yet complex. Very good.

Bottle (275ml). Shared with blankboy, garthicus and tupalev, my bottle via REAKT (sorry, man!). Pretty much opaque ruby-black, oily, thick, with a smallish frothy brown head. Lovely aroma - balanced, smooth, not boozy at all - soft wheaty grain, molasses, tar, peat. Taste - same, more hessian and iodine, stronger alcohol, deeper roast - near burnt - dusty, almost a hint of mouldy leaves. Thick, oily mouthfeel, bitter and burnt-astringent, long bitter malty finish. Damned fine beer, definitely a 4++ - smooth and a real sipper. Thanks, mes!

Graciously shared by HogTownHarry - also drank with Harry, Paul and Jeff. Appearance: Pitch black, tiny tan head which is easily aggitated. Aroma: Some alcohol, leather, spice, more alcohol, chocolate and coffee. Flavour: Wow, brandy, earthy, double espresso, whiskey, cream, spice with an almost baileys like consistancy. Delicious, thanks a million for sharing and by proxy MesandSim!!!
