Thanks to gunhaver for providing the bottle. A: Pours a rich shade of dark brown or light black depending on how you look at it. The head is on the smaller side, with just a touch of lace. S: Oak and bourbon bounce out from the start, not overpowering though. Vanilla, roasted malt and molasses are there as well in equal amounts. T: Nice dark fruit flavors up front. Roast, molasses sweetness carry you through the middle. The oak and vanilla along with some chocolate come in the finish. M: On the fuller side of medium, nice subtle carbonation. D: Really good, probably the beer English beer I have ever had.

06 bottle courtesy of gunhaver. Pours a murky brown. Nose is big cherry, whiskey, wood, prune, cinnamon and Pez. Huge fruit flavor, giant prune, fig, old cherries, ripe fruits, fruit loops. INcredible!

2006 bottle, courtesy StFun. Brownish pour, not as carbonated as I expected. Nose is big on bourbon, cherry, vanilla, some oak. Flavor is amazing, lots of caramel, cherries, oak, vanilla, sticky notes, lots of wood. Medium-bodied, not very carbonated but delicious and very drinkable. Loved it.

RBESG Sheffield 2009 Grand Tasting at the Harlequin. Vintage 2006. Black colour, no head. Aroma of port wine, molasses, very sweet. Flavour is port wine, roasted malts, molasses, raisins, chocolate. Syrupy mouthfeel. No carbonation, fullbodied. Too sweet, but good nevertheless.

Pours dark brown with a light brown head. Smells of roasted malt, tarte cherries, spices, some chocolate, some sherry hints. Tastes velvety and rich with a well balanced spicy finish.

Bottle, on two occasions, both times courtesy of reakt. The first time I simply enjoyed it and didn’t take notes. The second time I managed a score. Gobsmackingly good, without a doubt. Need to try it again!
