Very dark black. Flat. Liquorice, some alcohol. Light spice accents. Fruity (orange, pear). Rich inky malts - the finest tamari. Has a fresh juiciness. Very few impys have that. Unique character, lots of silk dark malts and that vibrant finish is brilliant.

12 oz bottle big thanks to pantanap for sharing this one! Pours a dark black brown with almost no head. Light chocolate, roast and alcohol in the nose. Sticky palate. Slightly sweet and fruity earthy flavors with the roasted malts. Sweet fruit finish. Solid beer.

Big thanks to Kan for busting this out. Poured opaque black with a very small head. Aroma was smoke, sweet maple, and big roasty character. Taste was chocolate, roast, smoke, salt with a very earthy base to it. Very well rounded and easy to drink.

12oz bottle. huge thanks to craig for getting the chance to try this.....pours a deep dark brown with reddish hues around the edges with absolutely no head....aroma of dark chocolate, ash, and burnt wood, slight woodiness..... soft but still very smooth with emphasis on wood sweet dark toffee and a ashy cigar after taste. could have used a little more body but i think it kind of works overall.

Thanks to CGarvieUK for this one, pours deep, thick and black with ring of a tan head. The nose is huge with dark berries, chocolate, vinous fruits and alcohol. Flavor is the same in complexity with a smooth mouthfeel.

(bottle shared by Stine, thanks Eben!) Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is a unique mix of berries, chocolate, hints of port, that is coupled with vanilla, charcoal, and a hint of booze as well. The taste is strong of chocolate, roasted malt that is bordering on being harsh with hints of green pepper. There is also a nice vinous quality here that is mixed with some vanilla. The beer finishes lightly smoky and lingers well after drinking. Smooth and silky mouthfeel. This is infinitely better than the original.
