Thanks to beerbill for sharing this. Deep black beer with no head. Lightly salty and sweet aroma with a light cherry aroma and a lot of black licorice. Very roasty and complex with notes of soy, rich leather and a nice earthy tobaccoish flavour. There is a treacly sweetness on the back. Very British tasting. Rich and intense with a lingering dark sweetness. Really earthy and vineous. Aniseed flavour behind the leathery flavour. A bit of pepper among all the deep malty complexity. Very tasty stuff.

275 ml bottle dated 2006 courtesy of a trade with cgarvieuk, thanks Craig! Pours a gorgeous black cherry color with a few glints of deep red when held against light. When swirled in the glass, this beer has very nice legs akin to a fine red wine. Very lovely aroma of that is filled with caramel, rich malt, vanilla, and some alcohol vapors. The flavor is lightly roasted malt, caramel, vanilla, and very mild tobacco. There is some mellow warming from the alcohol after the swallow that in no way interferes with the enjoyment of this beer. Excellent!

Bottle shared by Mes, thanks!
Vintage 2005
Black color; generous creamy head, reducing fast. Wonderful aroma, roasted malt, chocolate, light leather, but mostly a very good cheesy touch. Good body strength, perfect mouthfeel, massive caramel and chocolate flavor, with vanilla, light liquorice, leather, light fruity sourness; artfully blended together. Lovely!

Taste is dark fruits, raisons, touch of vanilla. Fruitier then I expected. Not trace of alcohol in the taste. The carbonation was level was non exsisting.
