Bottle (2006). Black beer with a wispy brown head. The aroma is sweetly roasted, and the flavour is deeply rich and sweetly roasted. Overall a nice sweetly roasted tasting beer.

Bottle (2006) The Offie, Leicester. Wow. This met all expectations and probably exceeded them. Looked, smelled and tasted awesome. Incredibly complex and words alone cannot do this justice. Well up there with the best I have tasted and fully deserving of its lofty status on here. A real treat to savour and worth every penny. Seek out and ENJOY. Nuff said.

Bottle thanks to WeeheavySD. 2005 vintage. Thanks Jon. Really light body to this one came as a real surprise. Very easy to drink and had a nice mouthfeel. I didn’t think there was that much there in the flavor profile. Off flavor of soy was detectable. Rerate 2006 vintage shared by Miketd. 2006 was definately better than the 2005.

Bottle at home Christmas Day 2007 (2005 version)... Deep red black ... quite sludgy at bottom of bottle so pour carefully... smooth roast coffee nose ... thin off white head ... wonderfully silky mouth feel ... rich creamy dark chocolate ... tiny amount of spirit but well balanced lots of smooth roats malts and dark vine fruits.

Tk2 At the Bells Hogmany ... rich smooth silky this is just so well balanced , tiny touch of whiskey though im not sure this is stored in whiskey cask.

TK3 2006 Version ... Deep black ... almost no head ... still the nice silky mouthfeel ... rich deep chocolate ... little meaty ... little vanilla and creamy... rich dark grapes and dates ... Oh yeah this is on form ... Big thanks to the brewer for kindly dropping them off when at a wedding in Edinburgh. Bottle at cloister tasting ...deep black ... sweet meaty dark fruits... silky and rich some toffee and chocolate ... touch of ice cream ... rich smooth and wondeful 4.7

Bottle, 2006 Version. Very dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas are chocolate and molasses malts with tobacco, smoky notes and some wood. Sweet vanilla with cream and spices. Flavours are warming alcohol with smooth, sweet chocolate milikshake. Smoky and herbal with soft berries. Vinous with cream. Warming, strong, rich and filling. As good as a trappist beer. Brilliant.

Bottle 275ml @ home. [ My UK Beer # 1000 ]
[ Courtesy of Mes_and_Sim ]. [ Vintage 2005 ]. Clear dark black color with a large, creamy, excellent lacing, fully lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, chocolate, dark berry - forest berry, cigar - tobaco, wood, oak, light alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is full, texture is oily - syrupy - creamy - smooth, carbonation is soft - flat. Plain and very very complex and very easy to drink ... give me more ;o)) (020708)

Bottle. 2005 vintage. HUGE thanks to Phil_L for giving me this at the last ZBF just out of generosity. I wanted to save this for a special occasion but after trying and really enjoying the regular Good King Henry it got harder to keep seeing it just seating in the cellar. Black-colored with a small bubbly brown head. Wonderful aroma full of chocolate (pralines), some alcohol, light fruitiness and some oaky notes. Flavor is sweet upfront with some chocolate notes, caramel and some fruitiness, continues slightly drier, very roasty, with some coffee, a great woody touch with vanilla notes and a bitter finish with big roastiness and a bit of alcohol. Full thick-bodied with light hints of alcohol on the tongue. A bit acidic and maybe lightly salty when I pour the bottom of the bottle. A magnificent balanced Stout.

Damn, I hate it when I get guilted into rating.Bottle shared from Douglas88. Thanks for the very special brew. So many flavors blended together and harmonizing perfectly like all 50 members of Jet. ( they were a band in the 70’s) You now when you enjoy an Expedition Stout, the flavors can almost yell at you: "hey, grey haired old guy, this is the molasss crew over here smacking your taste buds or " gee can you guess that we are from the Coffea canephora family?". The flavors in this brew whisper in your ear. Simply a wonderful brew.
