Nose is big on bourbon, cherry, vanilla, some oak. Flavor is amazing, lots of caramel, cherries, oak, vanilla, sticky notes, lots of wood. Medium-bodied, not very carbonated but delicious and very drinkable. Loved it.

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 22, 2009 Vintage 2006. Brewed 14.11.06. Best before 14.11.11. Very dark brown. Leathery date and fig aroma. Sweet, vinous Christmas cake taste, oily, syrupy and intensely approachable. Leaves a warming glow in the stomach after the first sip and a general feeling of ease and well-being after the second. This is seriously good, and so it should be for about four quid. Malty nose with notes of chocolate, plum, rasin, vanilla, and oak. Nice full, creamy body with soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet, roasted malt, nice notes of dark fruit and oak. Vanilla and a slight touch of anise were also present. Very balanced and very easy to drink. Great brew, thanks Geiger! Ibrew2or3 (2761), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 5, 2009 Big thanks to Gunhaver for sharing this 2006 vintage. Wow, the British take a moment or two away from churning out bitter to produce a mindnumbing brix brashing beer. Cheers! Pours deep darkness with no head. The aroma has rich chocolate and fudge brownie mixing with oak and a modest sense of booze. Smells like “yum” to me. The taste is rich chocolate and creamy moist fudge brownie moving into notes of caramel and sweet malts which culminates in a bit of booze. The booze helps dry it out some into the finish. Awesome brew. Dedollewaitor (3736), Odense, Denmark

Pours pitch black with a small bubbly head that quickly disappears. Nose is so yummi that I hardly can descibe it. Complex and deep. Dark roasted coffee, bourbon, oak, chocolate, vanilla. Smooth and soft palate. A bit of soy. Low carbonation. Slick and oily. The alcohol is very well hidden and integrated. A big beer!
