cgarvieuk (2160), Edinburgh, Scotland Feb 29, 2008 Bottle at home ... Dark amber bit loose foam head ... pine hop resins ... good fruit tangy ... little soapy ... but loads of citrus and pine ... quite drying ... well balanced... lots of building piney hop ... another great one... not my favourite style ... but one of the best in its class. Garrat (1064), Suffolk, England Feb 28, 2008 Bottle.Deep amber in colour with a large head, aroma of pine and hops, taste is hoppy with cedar sap,dry and bitter with an edge of alcohol and a long bitter finish.Chim chiminee cheroo. Doppelganger (1086), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Feb 27, 2008 Bottle, from the brewery via Fin. Thanks mate! Tangerine orange, lots of white head that hangs around comfortably. Resiny, candy Goldings character, all pollen and summery musk. Dandelion hoppy goodness, yellowy-sweet hay and lingering grass, supported and surrounded by firm, bright malt with just enough sweetness to gracefully counterpoint the bitterness, then receding to finish dry and refreshing. Memorably delicious. Another corker from Old Chimneys. Fin (2026), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Feb 24, 2008 Bottle that was brought over in a case along with our beer order for Merton Beer Festival, thanks to Marc Bartram I’m very chuffed with seeing Old Chimneys Good King Henry Special Reserve burst into the top 50 beers this week, but can I just say that Alan Thompson and Old Chimneys are certainly no ’one trick pony merchants’ This is a classy IPA, pours orangey amber in colour with white med’ fluffy head and tiny bubbles, hops and some citrus on the nose, but tastes lovely. Really quite subtle initially in taste, some fruitiness good hop presence and lovely bitterness, where this wins for me is that everything is done very subtley, this tastes to me like a well crafted and top notch British IPA, I loved it. cluny6 (41), Cambridge, England Jan 12, 2008 Light ambar in color. Cloudy with noticeable yeast. Looks like a Heffe weizen with a less head. The aroma is of hops and a little bit of grass/citrus. This is a very bitter /peppery ale with a hint of sweetness and a tarty aftertaste. Standout IPA which won’t dissapoint.
