Oct 29, 2009 Draft pint, at brewpub. Pours a bright orangish copper body with a one finger creamy white head that had decent retention, some light lacing. The nose is not overdone on the spices, which is great, but there was not quite as much pumpkin meat as I would like. There are so very few pumpkin beers that pull that off (first release of Selins Grove Pumpkin being the best). Some cinnamon, light nutmeg, and a hint of vanilla. The flavor is similar, well restrained cinnamon and nutmeg with some caramelized pumpkin meat towards the back end. A little sweet but not overly so. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with light fizzy carbonation and a heaviness on the finish. Overall, a pretty nice offering for the first batch, toss in some more pumpkin next time and this could be great.
