mmm///beer (521), Austin, Texas, USA Jul 23, 2008 (Sampled 7-9-08 at brewery) Turbid orange-yellow in appearance, a large aroma of lemons and wheat with clove and bananas hanging around in the background. Hits the mouth with a low-medium body, the malt is vey light on the tongue, esters make their transistions almost perfectly, finish has a nice fading feel to it. Drnk_McDermott (1537), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Dec 4, 2006 Draft taster at Old Hat. Rating #984! The menu card says this has 50% wheat malt and mentions the usual banana and clove flavor. And yes, that’s definitely here. Tastewise, though, it’s got a bit of graininess that I happened to find a refreshing break, that helps it break through the many versions of this style. This much wheat also suggests to me a slight sour or acid taste, like a bit of Berliner is hiding inside. Then a bit of a winey finish. Very nice.
