SuIIy (1109), W Newton, Massachusetts, USA Mar 18, 2006 On tap at Old Hat. Pours a medium brown hue with a light clear head. Nose is roasted malt, lightly smokey, with dark fruits. Taste is more of the ligh tsmoke notes, dark fruits, chocolate. Medium bodied with a smooth finish. Silphium (2029), Lansing, Michigan, USA Dec 15, 2004 On tap at Old Hat. Deep brown body, thin creamy tan head. Roasted malt aroma with black malt fruits and caramel. Flavor is surprisingly caramely and fruity, quite creamy, with reserved roasted malts and a slightly bitter lasting finish. Full mouthfeel. This stout was rather sweet but I suspect it was brewed as a dry stout. As such, I’m leaving the style designation generic. A nice change from the typical roasted acidity of brewpub stout offerings.
