Nose was slight with smoke and pilsnerish. Prevalent rauch flavor was quite satisfying. Alcohol hidden well n crispy, gritty grain finish. raphael (415), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Apr 14, 2007 aromas of sour corn. dry grass, slightly chemical. a little darker than yellow, thin white head. unepected smoke flavor, fading into almost watermelon, corn finish, not as harsh as cheap domestic MLs. | 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Mar 11, 2007 Sampled on 8/2/06: Corny, earthy bready aroma has some fusel alcohol and strange smoke. Pours a clear golden with a thin ring of white head. Body starts semi-sweet with some mild carbonation, earthy grainy notes, and an alcoholic finish. This is blasphemy to put the name Monk on this beer. Cornfield (4944), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Feb 4, 2007 This is rough to drink. Looks good, a clear yellow-gold with a two-fingered head and heavy beading. But the aroma and flavor are a blending of well-water, corn syrup, butane, and light metals. Malt is almost discernable in the flavor, but the heavy chemicals run the show. Mohan Meakin nailed the style on this one.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 15, 2006 Weird musty rum smell with a cidery hint that makes me think of fusel alcohol. Taste is smoky and lightly sweet with a watery mouth presence. $2.50/650ml beerbomb (172), New Jersey, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 12, 2006 Updated: Dec 13, 2006Was scared going into this...aroma is sweet, bready, musty, vineous, and has a little apple cider and smokey meat to it...thats right. Flavor is sweet and corny but also has a smoked meat flavor like beef jerky- Im hoping that is intentional. Really weird but not half as bad as haywards 5000 or whatever. This could pass as a smoked beer-im just hoping it was intended to be that way. footbalm (1218), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Nov 27, 2006 Bottle. Pours with a quickly dying head atop a clear pale golden body. Overcarbonated. Aroma is corny, metallic, rusty. Taste is sour, oxidized, some fruity apple. Strange burnt taste. Clean finish, but kind of harsh with alcohol. Bleh.
