(Bottle, Mfg 07/07, Batch 4318) Pours a clear yellow body with an average white head. Aroma of caramel, cocoa powder, and corn. Flavor of caramel, corn, and corn syrup with a somewhat metallic finish.

22oz bottle-pours a white head and yellow/gold color. Aroma is grain/cereal, grape, musty. Taste is grain/cereal, medicinal/vinegar, grape-fruit, alcohol, perfumy. Helps me appreciate most of the lesser beers I had in China. Thanks jwc215 for picking this out.

Sampled on 8/2/06: Corny, earthy bready aroma has some fusel alcohol and strange smoke. Pours a clear golden with a thin ring of white head. Body starts semi-sweet with some mild carbonation, earthy grainy notes, and an alcoholic finish. This is blasphemy to put the name Monk on this beer.

Bottle bought in Delhi. Pale yellow to light golden in colour. Clear. Quickly diminishing small head.Fruits, vegetable, grains in the aroma. Flavour of fruits, alcohol and wet vegetable. Thin bodied. Dry. Sweetish and fruity in the and with a hard alcohol touch.

Hazy golden beer. Aroma is very, very cidery with a bit of unusual tobacco/musky note. Sweet and unusually caramelly character. A bit of toffee. It’s kind of strange, but in a way that’s not nearly as bad as it first appeared to be. It’s still not good, but it is at least interesting.

This is rough to drink. Looks good, a clear yellow-gold with a two-fingered head and heavy beading. But the aroma and flavor are a blending of well-water, corn syrup, butane, and light metals. Malt is almost discernable in the flavor, but the heavy chemicals run the show. Mohan Meakin nailed the style on this one.

Golden color with a moderate white head. A light smoked malt aroma emanates along with some corn and sweet grains. Ewww, this is destined to be a drain pour after only one swallow. Woody grains followed by alcohol infused corn and malt. Fairly dry in the finish, thank god. Stomach is burning and one belch and my throat is burning also. Light iodine and metal cleaners drift in and out of the flavors. I would guess that this one was 14%. I must not proceed. We’ll see how this one cleans the pipes. Ok, A rerate after 20 minutes. This is actually tasting better after warming up Still is warm, but now has a mild spice, with clove and cinnamon. Still not good, but not quite as bad. Maybe the alcohol is hitting me. So a 0.5 point jump.
