BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Apr 26, 2007 Draught. Pours black with a small light brown head, mostly diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (coffee, chocolate, caramel), light hops (grass), average yeast (leather) with notes tar and smoke. Medium bodied, creamy-oily texture, soft-flat carbonation and a bitter finish. Light sweetness, acidity and bitterness; heavy roasted chocolate and coffee malt flavor. Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Apr 3, 2007 Robust, dry roast aroma. Not quite inky brown-black, light head. Nicely balanced, with good character, more of a porter. Roast, nuts, not sweet, medium to medium-light body. For a stout, it’s a quick finish without much bitterness. Braudog (3733), Dayton, Ohio, USA Apr 17, 2005 Black ... poured beautifully, with a nice waterfall building into a solid head. Despite the watery texture, this is a decent smoky coffee-flavored brew ... maybe a tad too sweet at the finish. aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Mar 29, 2005 Blackened ruby and a tan head that doesn’t fade. Big coffee-roasty, definitely dry, but the finish kind of falls away. Definitely different from the Montgomery stout by the same brewer, which is sweet and has more chocolate in the profile. This would be much better if the initial flavor burst would linger a bit longer. Suttree (2702), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA May 17, 2004 Black, with a sturdy brown head. Full, creamy palate. Burnt toast aroma. Note of coffee, chocolate and oreo in the flavor. Dryish in the finish. Actually not bad. MrRomero (1934), Nolanville, Texas, USA Jan 24, 2004 Poured dark brown with a thin tan head. Light roasted malt aroma. Has a slight vinegar taste and a very thin body.
