ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Nov 4, 2007 Appearance: Pours a clear, dark copper body with a small, off-white head.
Smell: Grassy, citrusy hop aroma with a background of toasted crackers.
Taste: Lightly toasted pale malt flavor with full notes of grass and citrus fruits. Not much sweetness from the malts, but then again not overly bitter, either. Finishes with a very mild, restrained bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A decent IPA that exhibits a strong grass character. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Updated: Nov 25, 2007Date: 03/24/2005

hazy dark amber, fine dirty white head, thick patterend lace,
huge fresh hop aroma on sweet crystal malt,
rich caramel and crystal malt flavor, lots of balancing hop flavor, nice bitterness balances the malty sweetness, a bit of the abusive hops still lingers in the back of the bitterness, long bitter finish,

BeerandBlues2 (3198), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Apr 26, 2007 Draught. Pours light copper with a small frothy white head, somewhat lasting, good lacing. Aroma is average malt (meal, caramel), heavy hops (pine, spruce, citrus), and average yeast (sweat). Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation and a bitter finish. Light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness; floral pine and leafy hop flavor. Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Apr 3, 2007 Citrus and cedar cigar box aroma. Medium gold, slightly largerhead than the IPA. Cedar and fish flavors, less edgy than the IPA actually, despite the name. I did a double-take to make sure that this wasn’t the hemp ale. This is an odd bird, and it’s definitely looking for some smoked salmon. Not sweet, lightish body. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Feb 3, 2007 Tap. I tried this one after the plainsman IPA and was a little confused. I was expecting was not what I got. It tasted like tea leaves had been brewed in the beer. It was drinkable but definately a little off. Suttree (2701), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jun 4, 2006 Copper, nice white head. Very toasty, resiny, grapefruity aroma. Woodsy at first, thensome black pepper, then more pine flavors, the maybe kind of a salt flavor. Fades a bit at the finish, but still good. I was assured by the bartender that this beer STRICTLY adheres to Alabama’s 6% law (nudge nudge, wink wink...). aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Dec 22, 2005 This is basically the same beer as the Plainsman IPA except strained through a keg of dry hops. Hazy amber with a thick, creamy head. The aroma is huge hops, a bit grassy. The hoppiness is a bit unbalanced with the rest of the beer, but as it’s all aroma and a bit of flavor, it keeps from being overwhelming.
