RateandPillage (417), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Feb 5, 2006 Growler at KP’s Cellar. Pours dark brown to black with almost no head. Aroma of wood, roasted malt and alcohol. Too much wood and bourbon in flavor; almost soy-like. Very thin on palate for an Imperial Stout. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jan 23, 2006 Sampled from a growler courtesy of kp: Pours a nearly opaque dark brown with a thin tan head. Has a semi-sweet, mildly roasted vanilla and oak aroma. Lightly-sweet, sticky dark caramel malty body has a touch of dry oak and vanilla but could’ve probably been left in the barrel longer. Hides its alcohol well, but I don’t think it has too much alcohol, at least as far as imperial stouts go. Glad to see more bigger experimental beers coming from Alabama. goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Jan 15, 2006 Growler @ Kps cellar.Poured a very dark brown color with no head. roasted malt aroma with coffee and sweet vanilla. Flavor had light bourbon and a good amount of roasted malt. Medium bitterness. Tasty. the barrel aging was blanced and did not overpower. If anything it was subdued. aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Dec 22, 2005 Black with ruby highlights. Small head. Small aroma (possibly due to the low carbonation as they just put this on from aging in the barrels) There’s a bit of dates in the aroma. Strong oak and vanilla in the flavor, the bourbon is less evident than in some. Chocolate, char. Fairly strong bitterness in the back.
