Source: Brewfest, Hickory Hops
Appearance: cloudy dark burnt orange, fine off white head, bits of drippy lace,
Aroma: huge dark caramel aroma with lots of bourbon and vanilla sweetness balanced by a touch of background oak,
Flavor: big bourbon and vanilla flavor, lots of oak adds balance, dark caramel adds extra sweetness, lots of fruityness rises out of the sweetness but is restrained by the oak, long lasting bitter finish,
Overall: should age relly well to allow the fruity character to ripen

argo0 (6167), Washington DC, USA Jul 28, 2008 (22oz bottle, thanks wilkie) Small beige head atop clear dark amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, raisin, some Bourbon/vanilla. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, raisin, some Bourbon/alcohol, light smoke. Medium-full body. CaptainCougar (4633), Rockville, Maryland, USA May 3, 2008 Pours a transparent copper amber with a spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet caramely malt and bourbon oak with some complex light fruity notes. Body starts with a nice viscosity and caramel malty sweetness balanced with plenty of oaky bourbon and light fruity notes before a warming finish. A pretty nice barrel-aged barleywine, but could use a little time to mellow. jcwattsrugger (3862), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jun 9, 2008 22oz bottle @Noogfest4.0-thanks kp–pours no head and copper color. Aroma is bourbon, medium malt-sweet. Taste is biting bourbon, medium malt-sweet, some hops. Fizzy. heemer77 (3647), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jun 8, 2008 Noogfest ’08. The body was deep amber and copper with an off white head. The aroma has some sweet bourbon notes. There was also some caramel and vanilla. The taste was massive bourbon with some vanilla. Not much else going on as the barrel aging dominates.
