Medicinal aroma; very woody palate - like walking through a lumber yard. Good beer if you like that sort of thing, but I could see a lot of people having problems with this.

Black with tints of brown, thin tan head. Mild burnt toast aroma. Seems a bit overly carbonated. Fairly aggressive coffee flavor, and then a crisp, dry, noticeably bitter finish. I don’t know if this a new recipe or possibly a different porter all together, but there doesn’t seem to be any chocolate character in this.

Draught. Pours dark mahogany with a thin white head (which laces rather well). The aroma is faint and chocolatey. The flavor has a bit of sweet chocolate at first, then goes toward almonds in the finish. Maltiness is even throughout. It isn’t quite as robust as I would like, but is still decent.

Pours a medium brown color with a thick, light brown head. Smells of mild roast and chocolate notes. Some hops were present as well. Didnt care for the taste too much actually. Very watery and thin in my opinion. It had some of those roasty malt characters to it, but had a distinct metallic taste that just ruined it for me. Quite disappointing.

on tap several months ago. pours out dark brow color with a tan head. served in a iced down glass. tasteless when it was 35 degrees. let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then it was quite drinkable. heavy chocolate flavor. fairly light tasting beer for a porter. still a good brew, something id recommend.

Draught at the UJ’s. We’ve got a dark, muddy ruby beer with a tall tan head. It’s a pulchritudinous enough ale. Nose is nicely roasty with a little bit of spicy hops, caramel, light corn husks. I gotta say I was slightly let down by the flavor as it’s a bit bland for the style. It’s a really mellow porter. Chocolate is present but barely noticeable. Rather than having a strong coffee presence, this is nuttier with flavors of almonds and a creamy finish. This makes a nice, lighter bodied session ale, but it isn’t anything exciting or notably complex.

Pours a very dark brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is malty and flavor is also malty with a bit of chocolate. Brew was a bit hoppy once it got warm.

Draft sampler at the brewery. This was listed as just a porter on the menu but it definitely had chocolate in it. Which made it very good. Nice flavor at the way through.
