Nice and deep, true to the name, with some dark auburn highlights and a good sized off-white head. Aroma of toasted malts, crisp lager yeast, honey and light notes of chocolate. Flavor is rich and sweet, with light toasted malt sweetness, some hints of caramel and a clean, crisp lager finish, which didnt water down. The texture is smooth, bordering on creamy. Medium body, moderate carbonation. One of the better beers I tried while down in Knoxville and it’s impressive to see this style (sort of a Vienna/American Dark hybrid) being produced fairly well down here.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear reddish-orange color with thin off white head. No lace. Smells of brown sugar and caramel. Slighty sweet. Flavor is dominated by malty caramel.

Reddish brown, Decent tan head. Faint, clean aroma. Overly thin bodied. Caramel flavor but not too sweet. Slightly vegetable crisp hop flavor. Abrupt finish, no aftertaste. Rather bland.

Draught. Pours amber with a small off-white head. The aroma is toast, raisin, and sage. The flavor is toasty and hay. Watery and uninteresting.

On tap at Union Jack’s. Light clear red, thin whitish head. Lightly nutty caramel aroma, some fruitiness, but aroma is faint. Taste is pit fruits, toasty malts, then lots of toasted malt and caramel. Good stuff.
