Commercial Description:
It is very dry, very crisp, very hoppy and has a wonderful coffee finish. It is very different from traditional cream or dry stouts.

Pours with a black body with red tinting topped by a thick head and a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly sweet and malty, yet bitter, hoppy and slightly roasty. Full bodied, slightly dry and smooth.

Black body with a light tan head. The aroma was roasted nuts and some coffee with chocolate. Taste of strong roasted coffee and and a little milk chocolate. The aftertaste lingers. Thin body for an impy stout, more like a dry.

sampled at the ’05 noogfest from a small ’barrel’. This tasted a lot more like an a dry/irish stout than an imperial. Very roasty.

Pitch black appearance with a beige head. The flavor was loads and loads of coffee with some dark chocolate in the background. The aftertaste was very dry. Sampled from a coffee pot at the Clarion.

Nearly opaque black-brown hue with a rich, creamy, brown head. Roasty, roasty, roasty, with some chocolate and anise. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter flavor becomes a moderately sweet, moderatley acidic, moderately bitter finish. Did I mention roasty? Medium-full body, creamy, moderate carbonation. The bottom line is: one of the best dry stouts I’ve had that isn’t listed as a dry stout...

Sampled at the 6/2005 ‘Nooga gathering. Poured from a mini-barrel/keg thing. Very dark. Opaque, with a frothy off white/brown head. I noted molasses, wood, and perhaps some soy or brinyness in the aroma. Had a creamy mouth feel that quickly evolved to a tannin/wood like mouth feel. The flavor had wood, burnt malt, coffee. Minimal aftertaste other than a lightly bitter coffee/malt hint. Not at all unpleasant but NOTHING like any other imperial stout I’ve had. This is a straight stout or a dry stout.
