TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, medium orange with an average, slightly off-white head that mostly diminished but left good lacing. The aroma was light to moderate caramel malt and heavy pine and citrus (mostly orange) hops The initial flavor was moderately sweet and lightly acidic; while the finish was moderate to heavily sweet and bitter and lightly acidic with and average to long finish. There was caramel malt then orangey citrus hops with a little pine too. The medium body was sort of syrupy, yet oily too. But a better word overall would be juicy. It had fizzy carbonation with a very light astringent finish. Braudog (3763), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jun 3, 2007 Bottle: Very light amber, or medium golden, lightly active with a respectable head of tacky white foam. The aroma is peppery and woodsy. Drinks with a full malt foundation, with a sticky hop consistency that gives it a unique bite; there’s a bit of citrus to it, but also that peppery aspect from the aroma. Neat beer from St.G. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 1, 2008 Updated: Oct 4, 2009650 ml. Clear burnt orange with a small but lasting creamy head. Aroma is initially banana nut bread, but is overtaken by light cinnamon, caramel and a hint of cabbage. Flavor starts as spicy banana nut bread, but after three gulps turns to peppery apple and toffee, becoming nicely bittered at the end with peppery wood tones. Big malt backing makes follow-on sips initially flavorful orange-grapefruit with honey, turning to resin and peppery wood. Great long finish of banana nut and peppery oak in perfect harmony. Light-medium body is extremely soft and smooth with a nice dry finish. Excellent balance in this unique and complex take on an IPA. jgb9348 (2499), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 25, 2007 Nice deep hazy golden coloured body with an orange glow and a very small off-white head with trillions of bubbles rising from the bottom of the bottle. Aroma of strong hops, a nice malty touch, light lemons and a citrus twang that sticks up well. Medium to Full-bodied; A hoppy first sip with definite malt to back it up. Lemons and lingering metallic bitterness follows on the palate. Aftertaste shows a good maltiness, but the hoppiness (which everyone should be drinking this one for) shows stronger - very nice. Overall, a good beer that really took me off-guard. I do like a lot of St. George’s beers, but this was really good in my opinion. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Kevin at Grape & Gourmet in Virginia Beach, Virginia on 25-September-2007. Hazmatt (363), Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 14, 2007 Bottle. Golden with a decent head. Spicy hop aroma with a hint of citrus and pine. A dry beer with tongue stripping acidity, but with enough malt backbone and residual sweetness to make it a good beer. alexanderj (2252), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 30, 2007 Bottle; Told that they just got it in. Poured an brownish orange, creamy medium white head. Aroma of citrus and floral hops, some toffee malt and a little earthy/metallic. Good creamy mouthfeel; flavor was not outstanding for the style, but it did have some really good malt highlighted with some hop finish. NOt the greatest or most powerful hop presence, mabye a little light for the style. However, really enjoyed this and may be overating a bit, just because its a local brand. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 24, 2008 Pours a transparent bright copper orange with a spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of fresh piny grassy hops with a decent balance of sweet pale malt. Body starts with decent fullness and fresh resiny hops balanced with good malty sweetness. Finishes crisp and bittersweet with some sticky hop flavors. A nice IPA. argo0 (6907), Washington DC, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 5, 2007 (22oz bottle) Lightly-hazed amber body with medium off-white head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, orange, light spice. Taste is medium sweet, orange, floral, some grapefruit, spice. Medium body, light resin. The hoppiness is evident, but lower alpha acidity hops result in a beer that isn’t especially bitter for the style. Still, quite yummy.
