ucusty (1871), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 18, 2009 Brown pour. Poor head retention and lace. Light roast and toffee on the nose. Thin bodied. Molasses, nuts, and must goldtwins (4079), Nesconset, New York, USA Jul 24, 2009 Poured a deep brown color with an off-white head. The aroma was light. Light roasted malt, light coffee, and light tartness. The flavor was light and watery with a bitter finish. Light body. potbeercollege (254), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 16, 2009 a tan off white head that is very small, almost non-existent... a good but not great flavor for a brown ale... if your anywhere in Virginia just go ahead and stick with Legend Brown Ale instead... this really doesn’t compete! a smooth finish with a beautiful caramel brown appearance that that doesn’t deliver the rest of the package DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 17, 2009 Draft at Green Leafe Newtown. Pours dark brown with nose of caramel malt, hops, earthy figgy fruit, nuts. Complex palate, with earthy brown malt, nuts, hops, and brown sugar. Solid. Elwood (665), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Apr 6, 2009 22 oz. bottle. Nice mahogany color with a creamy, light tan head. Strong molasses and caramel notes in the nose. Medium-low carbonation with a medium-light, dry mouthfeel. Caramel, light coffee, nut, wood, slight earth, and mineral notes on the palate. Medium body and good drinkability. A lingering bitterness in the finish. A good brown ale that I would certainly be willing to have a few of. beerbill (1919), Laurel, New York, USA Apr 4, 2009 22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with dkachur. Pours a hazy dark brown. Aroma of molasses along with a strong smell of stale attic air. That same staleness translates into the flavor, with less molasses than the aroma and some tobacco flavor as well. This is not something I would look to try again any time soon. notalush (2628), Denver, Colorado, USA Mar 31, 2009 Thanks to beerbill for sharing - this is a decent, albeit rather bland brown ale - light tobacco bitterness counters maple sweetness and a mild nutty character - a little bit of leafy quality - my notes ramble on at this point about the mediocrity of the brew - meh. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Jan 7, 2009 Sampled at tronraner’s Xmas Eve^3 tasting. Brown pour with light reddish highlights. Caramel malt aroma is toasted and roasty. Very malty and roasty flavors. Some nuttiness on the finish. Pretty decent offering.
