May 1, 2007 Bomber. I’ll start by saying I’m not a red guy. I always seem to detect some metallic notes I just don’t like. That said, this ain’t bad. Coppery pour topped by a big tan head - very nice looking beer! Light, sweet malt nose, caramel, some light nuttiness and very weak coffee. Decent medium body. Some more bitter nut flavors well up in the finish, a touch of spicy hop. Not bad!

Apr 28, 2007 Bottle. Aroma is of malt, some spices, and german hops. I liked the initial sweet malt flavor but the body was a little thin and the finish was watery. Still nice to drink though.

Apr 28, 2007 Bottle; poured a brownish read. Medium to large, somewhat creamy, offwhite head. Aroma is of malt, oak and some hops ( a little soapy). Pretty watery and light on the flavor; flavors include some toffee. Actually good...for the style.

Apr 21, 2007 Big white head on this one. The nose is of strong malt and oakiness. The malt is strong enough to get a bit of sweetness out of it, and it finishes with a solid note of bitterness. Overall, a good beer.

Apr 11, 2007 Tap at Mellow Mushroom, Charlottesville, VA. Browinish amber, looks slightly clody, small head. Malty nose, with a typical amber smell with the addition of some hoppiness. A good amount of hops in the flavor to turn an ordinary amber into a very tasty brew. Not overpowering flavor can make this a nice session beer.

Apr 7, 2007 Bottle. Dark copper pour. Small off-white head. Nose is sweet malts, caramel, and soft grains. Almost a hint of coffee as well. Taste is slightly spicy and floral hops, delicate citrus notes, caramel, and sweet, chewy malts. Hint of toffee at times as well. Body is creamy and chewy. Medium overall with sturdy carbonation. Finishes with a bit more bitterness, sweet malts, caramel, and spicy hops. Nice!
