Commercial Description:
We invite you to experience our Amber Ale, a beer as beautiful to look at as it is to drink. Our recipe blends our own pale malt base with three specialty malts and the freshest "American" noble hobs. The resulting deep, rich color of Olde Towne Amber Ale means great flavor, leaning toward the malty side with just a hint of hops in the bouquet. Olde Towne Amber Ale is a feast for the eyes, nose and mouth. Tasting is understanding.

Draft sample at the Free the Hops 2009 Blastoff Party. Dark amber in the glass with a creamy off-white head that is lasting and left light lace. Caramel malt aroma. The flavor found caramel with a slight hint of chocolate. Medium body with a hint of hop bitterness in the end.

12 oz bottle. Poured a hazy amber color with a thin off white head. The aroma was caramel malt, a bit of chocolate and some earthy hops. The flavor was plain, with not much more than caramel. Didn’t catch any bitter finish.

12 oz bottle acquired in a trade with Mcbackus. Pours a cloudy amber color with a white head . Has an odd aroma to the nose, almost like brownie mix, although there is no chocolate flavor to it. Average mouthfeel, mild carbonation. Flavor has a bit of wheat flavor to it with a weird sour funk.

Maybe a bad bottle. Tart and sour. No bitterness. No sweet malt, just sour. No aroma. Looks nice, though. Big bubbly head. Dark rich amber color. I wish it tasted as good as it looked.

I was fortunate enough to get a 12oz in a trade and enjoy this, thanks alot brent. This is a prety plain beer with a amber color and no head at all. There is not much of an aroma it has some caramel malt and a dash of hops. As i drink it there is a nice initial bitterness but it fades rather quick and goes right into a caramel coating that does tend to last along the sides of your mouth.

April 2006 - Beer looked beautiful on the pour...fluffy head that wouldn’t go down for nuttin’. Dark amber color...a little darker than the typical amber ale. The aroma was typical and I was excited to drink it. I think bfeldmann and eaglefan538 were having palate issues from too much drinking that night (coffee?). Okay, there might have been a touch of roastiness in the flavor, but I didn’t notice coffee. When hitting the tongue, the beer seemed like it was going to be really good. The malt hit you, but didn’t finish with the sweetness that an amber ale is supposed to have. It left me wanting more (not more beer, but more flavor)...it almost tasted stale. Mouthfeel was okay, not overly thin, but not sticky either...maybe a little overcarbonated. Flavor didn’t improve as it warmed. I guess this isn’t a horrid beer, but there are many better ones out there...at least outside Alabama.

12oz bottle thrown in as an extra from brentfreesh (thanks for ticking off another very hard to get state for me!). Poured a medium and slightly cloudy amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of butter with some caramel in the background. Tastes lighter butter and caramel. Definitely past its prime (I wonder how old this bottle is).

slightly tart carmel malt aroma with a flavor to match, wish these guys could get their shit together as they are really nice guys and the only current hope for Alabama
