| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 1, 2008 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy with a frothy top fine to medium sized off-white colored bubbles that were and left behind a hazy strongly carbonated dark orange brown colored body and a poor lacing. The mild aroma was hoppy and floral. The mouth feel was strongly tingly at the start and mediumly tingly at the finish. The yummy flavor contained notes of hops breads and brown malt. A wonderful best in class brew. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 1, 2008 I love the body on this beer; creamy and frothy, as in a draft. Luscious mouthfeel, almost thick and still slick, oily. The taste is all sweet tropical hops, somewhat bitter but intensely pineappley, with a touch of sweetened breadiness. The beer is fatiguingly sweet for my palate. Aroma is intense, with an earthy cheese component. Thanks to Iowaherkeye for the extra. FlacoAlto (2482), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 30, 2008 Pours with a frothy, initially fat-two-finger thick, tan colored head. The beer is a soft reddish amber color, but shows a bright copper hue when held up to the light. The aroma is sticky with hop character; initially sweet citrus & fruit notes are dominant but there is a touch of sharper, slightly herbal notes at times too. This smells of orange blossom nectar, honey citrus jam, apricots, huge lychee, pineapple and peach. At times, after my nose has had some time to adjust, I get some biscuit like malt character along with the pine & herbal notes. Really though the hop derived, sweet citrus and fruit notes dominated this aroma, which is fairly smooth for such a hoppy beer.
Fairly sweet, which is coupled with the substantial fruity hop character. The beer finishes with a sharp, strangely herbal note that starts out in the middle; This note is like chewing an a hop vine, sort of menthol like, pine tar evoking, extremely green, with an astringent, aggressive edge to it and is almost vegetal. The finish is definitely a bit weird. This hop note couples with a solid bitterness in the finish. This beer is not overly bitter though as there is a substantial enough malt character to carry all the hops. The beer is not too heavy though, the body manages to stay out of Barley wine territory unlike some examples of the style. The hop character is clearly the dominant character here; fresh, juicy, up front flavors of candied orange peel, lychee, apricot, juicy fruit and a touch of berry notes.
If it wasn’t for that really distinct, green off-flavor towards the finish, this would be a great example of a Double IPA. The flavor just can’t seem to shake it though and it really can ruin my enjoyment of this brew. It does seem to mellow a bit after working on this brew for the last 45 minutes or so. plovmand (1738), Helsinge, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 27, 2008 Golden/amber colour with fast disappearing white head. Very hoppy aroma. Lots of american hops used here. No doubt. Some malts there too. Flavour is extremely hoppy and bitter with notes of grass and citrus. After consuming a 50 CL bottle Im close to hop burn. Great stuff. hiddenvariable (194), pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 27, 2008 pours a deep, mostly clear, copper, with a big off-white head that leaves substantial lacing, though you have to wait a while for it to fade in order to notice that. huge hoppy smell! major bursts of citrus (orange, pineapple, grapefruit), with a bit of pine, backed up by some bready malts. tastes a lot like it smells, though the malts come out more, this time with a bit more of a toffee-like character. great coating mouthfeel, and the huge bitter one would expect from a 2ipa, but pretty well balanced. plenty of tingly carbonation, and a fairly thick, chewy body. good stuff. i’d love to try this again. the price might be prohibitive, though, as there are cheaper options i like just as well. great example of the style, though. radiomgb (2073), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 24, 2008 Hazy orange in colour, initially large off-white coloured head, fairly quick to dissipate, good lacing. The aroma is very fresh, lots of oranges, floral hops, some pine. The flavour is again quite hoppy, very floral and herbal, grassy, green, lots of oranges, briefly sweet, chewy. Moderately bitter mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes long, moderately bitter, very hoppy, dry. This is quite balanced for an IIPA, rich and chewy, quite refreshing.

Smagen sød med en god del bitterhed, ikke så megen som jeg havde forventet hvilket er et stort plus. Dejlig øl. talon1117 (631), Bellvue, Colorado, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 23, 2008 Updated: Apr 16, 2008Pours a fairly hazy, orangey-copper color with an average, creamy-pillowy, cream-colored head; longevity is great and lace is sticky, tight, and plentiful. You can almost smell how bitter the beer is going to be with loads of fresh pine, followed by resins, floral notes, and citrus hops of bitter tangerine. Other notes include a dried apricot note, some toasted caramels, and light bready yeast with some whisps of alcohol. Flavor is just what I expected with bitter notes right up front bringing a high bitterness and notes of earthy pine resins (almost as if you had taken the pine needles right from the tree!), fresh flowers, and bitter oranges. The malts support the hops well with some dried pomme fruits, toasted caramel, some sweet bread notes; some lightly burnt oak and spicy alcohol is noted but hidden fairly well. Palate is good with a medium to full body, soft to lively carbonation, and a creamy, lightly sticky feel. Finishes fairly long but still with some sweet notes of dried pomme fruits but mostly bitter with lingering pine resins and oak notes with some bitters in there as well to dry it out just a touch. One of the more unique IIPA’s I’ve tried and certainly carries plenty of bitter notes while keeping some nice balancing malt tones. It’s hard to find something bad to say about this one with all aspects being quite good and the flavors all worked so harmoniously. This brewery really is creating some great American-style beers and is soon becoming one of my favorites.
