Commercial Description:
This is the second in a range of Ølfabrikken special ales.
Starting with the rich and slightly sweet malt profile of a Belgian triple we have added a hop charge every five minutes for full duration of the boil - each hop charge 100 grams larger than the previous one. The result is an immensely bitter ale - a 100 IBU's of course.
Ølfabrikken 100 gram IPA is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and cask conditioned like all of our beers.

Bottle: Hazy copper, nice head and light lacing. Dehydrated orange, decayed pine fencing, creamy caramel, candy corn, pineapples. Sweet resinous dry hop, low attenuation, melanoidin balanced, sweet mouthfeel, tangy tail with a lingering dark-caramel and resin note. Blends the hop regions perfectly; pacific northwest dry hops, San Diegan residual sweetness, British wood and earthiness and a Danish motivation to get it done.

Pours hazy copper with a thick head. Strong hoppy aroma as soon as I pop the top off the bottle. Aroma of pine, citrus, and alcohol. Flavor is extremely sweet and attempts are made to balance the sweet with bitterness and alcohol. The attempts fail unfortunately. Mouthfeel is gritty and not smooth. Bitterness is not present long in the aftertaste, it disappears surprisingly quickly. I was expecting more.

Bottle. Pours a nice copper color with a soft pillowy white head. Aroma is a nice blast of fruity, pine, citrus, caramel. Flavor is citrus, mango, caramel, pine, hint of spice. Palate is medium bodied, medium carbonation, somewhat sweet up front then finishes bitter. A great one. Slightly different.

Bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours hazy copper with an average, fizzy, off-white head, somewhat diminishing with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (bread, caramel), heavy hops (citrus, pine, resin, grapefruit), average yeast (dough, sweat) with notes of pear, apple, and apricot. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a bitter and dry finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.

Very herbal, in its initial aroma and flavor primary. Very smooth with some grass and even dirt like finish. over all its very worthy of your time and money.

The aroma is very hoppy with caramel malt. The appearance is deep amber with an average head. The flavor is simple and like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s good but the bitternesses is astringent and there is a little paper taste.

Bottle. Christmas tree pine, citrus fruit, sweet bitter. Darker amber body with big off white head. Good lacing left on pint glass. Citrus orange and dry pine resin bitterness also a malted carmel in the mix for flavor. Sweet dry sugary citrus lingers for aftertaste. Good amount of dryness and bitter on the palate but enough other ingredients in this one for that to bother me this time. Good brew

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie), heavily hoppy (resin, apricot), with a note of sauerkraut. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium to full body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. First time I’ve ever noticed such a close resemblance to sauerkraut in a beer, but it’s unmistakable (esp. having just returned from Germany, it’s fresher in my mind than usual). Highly disturbing. Lots of hops and other usual characteristics for the style, but the sour cabbage smell and aftertaste makes it impossible to drink. Complete drain pour.
