Commercial Description:
This is the second in a range of Ølfabrikken special ales.
Starting with the rich and slightly sweet malt profile of a Belgian triple we have added a hop charge every five minutes for full duration of the boil - each hop charge 100 grams larger than the previous one. The result is an immensely bitter ale - a 100 IBU's of course.
Ølfabrikken 100 gram IPA is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and cask conditioned like all of our beers.

Bottle from LS - Pours a hazy amber color with a one finger thick off white head. Very light lacing. Aroma is toasted malt, light fruity esters, and light pine hops. Flavor is sweet and malty with a good hop bite. Smooth palate with no lingering aftertaste. Medium to full body. Nice balance. A good beer.

22 oz. bottle (tasting hosted by after4ever) - dark orange with white foam around the edges; aromas are piny and mild; it is bitter, but smoothed out with nice malt balance; not too hoppy

The aroma was nicely malty with a strong caramel backbone coupled with lightly citrusy and resinous hops. Fruity with a citrus punch and a bready nature. The beer poured into the glass very slightly hazy golden amber with an off-white head which rose medium and fell to lace the glass. The flavor was malty with a lightly spicy hop flavor and a decent level of bittering. The hop flavors were muted and melded but contained grassy and resinous characteristics coupled to pine and citrus. The flavor was spicy and interesting. The finish was dry with lasting bittering into the aftertaste. The body was medium-full and the carbonation somewhat low. The beer was creamy on the palate. A nice IPA, definitely with a high level of bittering, but never offensive and well balanced. 22 ounce bottle.

Bottle. Body-hazy dark iced tea with a loose bubbly island of bubbles and a loose ring of bubbles. Nose-big PNW hops, sweet, sticky, orange juice, grapefruit. Taste-medium bitter, orange juice, grapefruit, lots of aroma hops, light maple syrup, slightly too sweet, raw unrefined sugar sweet malt extract, good use of the hops but still a touch too sweet. Enjoyable if you were to drink it in limited quantities. Pine, Earl Grey, root, medium alcohol, spearmint, menthol.

Bottle from Sam’s. Pour has a shade of golden amber at the bottom and turns into a darker ruby-amber towards the bottomr of the head which is full and of a yellowish cream color. Sudsy lace. Nose is both rich will brown sugar and sweet caramel malts, but also a good dosing of piney and earthy hops make themselves present. Tropical fruits also noticeable as the beer warms. Flavor is very hoppy and bitter and surprisingly one-demensional. Very hop juicy. Slight note of alcohol in the bitter, yet clean, finish.

Poured dark gold with a fluffy off white head. Aroma of hops and pine. Taste was a very bitter hops bite with some pine in the finish. Finished clean, crisp, and refreshing.
