Commercial Description:
This is the second in a range of Ølfabrikken special ales.
Starting with the rich and slightly sweet malt profile of a Belgian triple we have added a hop charge every five minutes for full duration of the boil - each hop charge 100 grams larger than the previous one. The result is an immensely bitter ale - a 100 IBU's of course.
Ølfabrikken 100 gram IPA is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and cask conditioned like all of our beers.

Shared with Black95tt...another really good beer from Ølfabrikken. Poured a nice clear golden yellow with no real presence of sediment or hop particles. Nice aroma of citrus and other fruitiness. Not much malt to balance it out, but still a really nice ipa. Alcohol a little noticeable at the end, finished fairly clean and bitter. Good stuff

Orange with a thin white head. Piney aroma with some mineral bitterness. Hint of peach as well. Bitter hoppy flavor with a bit of an asprin like finish. Solid if not spectacular.

Bottle from Capones, sampled with Stegosaurus. Hazy orange pour with grassy pine aroma. Sweet hoppy finish, actuallly really good. I loved it.

Bottle. Amber with a huge yellowish head. Grapefruity hop aroma for all the money, fresh and potent. Wonderfully bitter flavours, though made very well with a good, complex citrus hoppiness. Apples and grapefruit on a sound malty base. Full body. A masterpiece of a beer.

I was really looking forward to this brew after reading how they did the hop additions. They start with 3.5 oz’s of hops and continually compound every 5 minutes throughout the boil. Appears a semi-transparent copper with a small, soapy, off-white head that quickly fades into a mild cap. Small streams of CO2 slowly rise to the top. Scattered streaks of lacing are left around the glass. Smell is of sugary candy oranges, juniper berries, and lots of pine sap, caramel, brown sugar, cut wood, earthy, citrus, herbal, with black pepper. Taste is of the same aromas but more balanced with a piney bitter blast. It sort of reminds me of that brand new, fresh out of the box sneaker smell that’s a mix of leather and sheen. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, fruity, with citrus, pine, and sugary bitterness hanging in the balance more towards the bitter end. Overall, not bad but it didn’t knock my socks off, as anticipated.

22 oz bottle from bottletrek.com. This brewery continues to impress the hell out of me. Pours a nice clear amber with a big creamy head. Big citrus and floral aroma. Sweet malt flavor with piney, citrus and floral notes. Oily mouthfeel, HUGE bitter finish and slight alcohol warmth. Excellent!

Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured a hazy copper color with a moderate frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Heavy complex citrus hoppy aroma with a sweet malty tone. Medium to full body with a slick texture. Heavy bittersweet flavor with a heavy bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of long duration. This is a standout beer.

Bottled. Thanks ekstedt. ’ Charneol colour, medium-sized head. Aroma oozes of exotic fruits, the smell is huge and very nice, it’s like smelling a fruit juice. Flavourwise, not malty enough, where the high hop addition leaves nothing but a huge bitterness, that sets in all too quickly. I love my 2IPAS, but this was a bit unbalanced. Great nose, then a second of hop flavour, finishing with an almost extreme bitterness.
