Commercial Description:
This is the second in a range of Ølfabrikken special ales.
Starting with the rich and slightly sweet malt profile of a Belgian triple we have added a hop charge every five minutes for full duration of the boil - each hop charge 100 grams larger than the previous one. The result is an immensely bitter ale - a 100 IBU's of course.
Ølfabrikken 100 gram IPA is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and cask conditioned like all of our beers.

Slightly sticky beer with a small head and a assertive aroma of hops and caramel. The flavour is quite sweet with loads of oily hops - mostly the piny and itrusy kind. It’s quite bitter but not over the edge. A bit too malty and sweet for my taste...

[Bottle] Pours amber with a small off-white head. A lot of grapefruit in the aroma. Malty and sweet, then a lot of hops--but the bitterness really wasn’t out of control. Good mouthfeel. Sweet lingering finish. Pretty good stuff.

Hop Wallop! This is an amazing IPA. Great hop aroma and flavor with notes of pine, grapefruit and orange zest. Nice balance of malt and hops in the finish makes this surprisingly drinkable for such a big beer.

This is good, but not nearly as intense as I expected. Mild hop burn. Sweet malt and moderate hops in the flavor, with citrus. Thick on the palate, and low carbonation. It doesn’t taste nearly as bitter as the high IBU lead one to expect.

Yeh baby, this ones what I had hoped for with DFH 120 min, not that the 120 is bad by any means, but the hops fly out in this and aren’t buried under the malty sweetness. damn this is good. thanks AGAIN, Bert!

Big piney hop nose arrives from an arms length away, serious aroma hopping. Head is small but lasting leaving behind a coating lace. Copper orange hued color. Medium sweet caramel malt aromas climbing out from under the pine and citrus nasal blast. Body is med/full, oily on the palate, resiny, juicey and mouth watering. Sticky piney flavors up front, large and bold backed by medium sweet caramelly malts. Notes of grapefruit, peach and apricot, very fruity and juicey. Some metallic notes appear as it warms up. A tad sweet for my IIPA standards but nicely flavored hopwise. Finish is a bit wet, some more IBUs would of been nice but thats just me. God i,m such a hop whore. Bottle procured from statelineliquors. Thanks to Robert for keeping the good beers coming!

22oz. Bottle: Very hoppy aroma with notes of citrus, grapefruit, pineapple, caramel, and a hint of pine. Poured amber/orange in color with a large, foamy, creamy, rocky, off-white head that lasted throughout. Excellent lacing. Hazy. Sparkling. Flavor is medium bitter and lightly sweet. Tastes of hops, caramel, grapefruit, pineapple, and some pine. Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Caramel/bitter hop finish. Overall, a decent IPA. The body is better than the flavor.

22.3 oz bottle. Hazy olive orange with a pale oat head. Lacy veils. Beautifully fragrant with honeysuckle and roses, bits of toffee and green hay. The delicate floral lure belies the beast within. First sip is like watermelon pickle soaked in vodka. Strong currents of caramel manage to hide the alcohol for a while. Pine needle hops come out in the finish with numbing. I prefer an up front malt DIPA so this worked for me. Still plenty of bitter balance but a bit hot overall.
