Commercial Description:
This is the second in a range of Ølfabrikken special ales.
Starting with the rich and slightly sweet malt profile of a Belgian triple we have added a hop charge every five minutes for full duration of the boil - each hop charge 100 grams larger than the previous one. The result is an immensely bitter ale - a 100 IBU's of course.
Ølfabrikken 100 gram IPA is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and cask conditioned like all of our beers.

Bottle thanks to 17th floor. Slightly hazy orange amber with small biege head. Oxidized hops with slight citrus and big sweet caramel and slight perfumey. Oxidized hops, dough, big hop bitterness and sweetness, spruce, slight dough. Medium to thin body, watery. Too perfumey but I Would like to try you fresh.

Pours a hazy amber with a frothy medium beige head and lacing aplenty. Aroma is moderately sweet, orange, grapefruit, pine and cantaloupe. Flavor is orange, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, caramel, light lemon and grapefruit. Medium body, sticky texture. Finishes long and graprefruity bitter.

Bottle from Sam’s Quik Shop in Durham. Pours a reddish brown with a medium head. Moderate retention and good lacing. Big sweet, floral hop aroma. Oily, citrus, pine hops taste. A little too vegetal but still nice.

Bomber. Pours a golden/red color with a huge white head with a huge amount of fat bubbles on top. Aroma is hoppy though there is a noticeable spicy malt character underneath. Almost like rye? Anyways, there are plenty of hops, and they smell quite excellent. Reminds me a bit of Hopsickle in its hop characteristics. Taste is bitter, with a strange candy like malt presence beneath. They say they started with a Belgian triple, that could be the strange sweet character I’m detecting underneath. I would have preferred a more straight forward malt bill, though this is interesting. The grain bill kind of detracts from this overall. Still interesting though.

bottle thanks to nhorween. this beer was fantastic. i drank it at dark lord day and it might have been my favorite of the day. wait, no, compunction was. but this was damned good. terrific floral/fruity hoppy aroma, lots of balance, very sweet malt to round it all out. the body was slightly on the carbonated side but it made it all the more refreshing. light copper color. the hop bill was really perfect on this, but i didn’t find it too tremendously bitter. very very american beer, reminded me a lot of the lagunitas farmhouse IPA or whatever i had a year earlier at the same event. thanks again nick.

Deep amber with medium white head. Sweet aroma with notes of caramel, grapefruit and floral hops. Flavor likewise with loads of hops leading to a solid bitter end. Nice!

4-9-08 bottle shared with lb4lb thanks to tytoanderso!
White pillowy head over an amber red color. Floral sweet great hops smell. Sweet flavor with a bitter finish. Overpowering flavors of alcohol that seems out of place with the light clean crisp hops. Overall, a nice and very drinkable beer and would be damn near perfect with a little less alcohol present. Smooth and creamy palate with a nice slight hoppy bite to it.

Bottle. High creamy and lasting off-white head. Hazy dark orange body. Fruity and powerful hops aroma, peaches mainly. Heavily hopped and therefore relatively bitter flavor where the fruit is barely noticeable. Low carbonation and a long, dry and bitter aftertaste.
