Commercial Description:
Once a year the the Danish Beer Enthusiasts celebrates "Øllets Dag" - Day of the beer. This year they wanted something special. Together with the founders of the organization, we made a recipe based on a classic Belgian Dark Ale. Ølfabrikken AA is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Sampled at DØE Beer festival 2006, Horsens. Pours a dark brown beer with a beige head. The aroma is malty with caramel, chocolate and coffee. The flavor follows the nose and has slight notes of vanilla. The palate is balanced and complex. Overall a good beer.

Bottle. Quite spicey and sweet. Christmas spices come through in the aroma and flavour. Palate is quite sweet, raisiny and shows some caramel as well, some slight soy sauce stickyness comes through, but otherwise this is quite nice.

A very good dubbel, especially for one made outside of Belgium, because this style seems to be a challenge for many non Belgian brewers. Anyway, there is alcohol and sweet malt in the aroma. The flavor has more malt and some sugar, some yeast, as well as fruit. Great, thick palate, the way I like the style

Sampled at MN Ratebeer Winter Gathering in Maplewood, MN and received a 500 ml bottle from Papsoe via trade. Pours a cloudy rusty brown brew with a thin off-white head that has some good retention. Aroma of spicy caramel malt, cinnamon, some fruity character along with toffee and bread dough. Taste is medium bodied, plenty of carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, some light maple syrup, fruity pears and a touch of toffee. Finish is smooth, creamy with a light yeast and caramel aftertaste.

MN Winter RB Gathering. Thanks to Skyview for sharing. Nice dark fruit, toffee, and a yeasty spiciness to compliment a light smokiness. Flavor is much the same with the yeast finishing this out very nicely.
