Commercial Description:
Once a year the the Danish Beer Enthusiasts celebrates "Øllets Dag" - Day of the beer. This year they wanted something special. Together with the founders of the organization, we made a recipe based on a classic Belgian Dark Ale. Ølfabrikken AA is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Bottle from skyview at the MN RB Winter Gathering. Simple aroma: plenty of dark fruit, toffee and caramel. Pours a thick muddy amber brown. Tart malt initially on the tongue. Slightly sweet. Loads of dark chewy fruit. Dry and spicy yeast. Creamy on the palate bordering on thick. Plenty of carbonation. Finishes with a yeasty dryness and raisiny maltiness.

Nice brown color. Faint head. Sweet spicy body, a little strong on the alcohol with a lot of strawberry. Sharp almost smoky body with a malty flavor.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle. Mahogany with light red hues. Spicy aroma with cinnamon and apple, strawberries, raspberries, and toffee. Doughy, roasted flavor with some meaty overtones, plenty of dark, spicy wood and bright, tangy fruit. Medium bodied, sharply carbonated, and lucid in the mouth; finishes with some cloying honey and a sticky lick of maple. Reasonable. Thanks for sharing, Bob!

Muddy red colour with a bit of a tan head. Strange flavour reminds me a bit of roasted malts. Seems wrong for some reason. Nice flavour of fruit, fairly one-sided but it doesn’t detract.

500 ml bottle, via one of my Danish traders. Pours a clear amber brown with some garnet highlights on the edges. Excessively large fizzy brown head lasted forever. Tons of sediment in this guy. The nose is heavy fruity malt with light oxidation, a good bit of yeast, and a little alcohol. The flavor is all malt with lots of dark fruits. Finishes with a slightly earthy yeasty note and a little alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a nice creamy texture and soft fizzy carbonation. Just a slight clinginess on the finish makes it linger on. Overall, I thought that this was pretty good. Great depth and complexity with just a touch of aged character.

Bügelverschlußflasche: Deep fruity-vinous (dark berries detectable) nose with a touch of molasses and brandy, hazy, amber coloured, mid-sized lacing tanned head; solid sweet flavour, medium bodied; becomes drier towards the end, brandy, chocolate and roast-malty bitterness in the finish. A good one, if You like Belgian beers........
