Commercial Description:
Once a year the the Danish Beer Enthusiasts celebrates "Øllets Dag" - Day of the beer. This year they wanted something special. Together with the founders of the organization, we made a recipe based on a classic Belgian Dark Ale. Ølfabrikken AA is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Bottled. Chocolate, black currant and a hint of vanilla in the aroma. Very dark brown color, light brown firm head, good lace. Sweet, bitter, milky, chocolate, moccha, coffee and vanilla finish. Aggresive yet somehow straightforward.

Pours muddy dark brown with BIG beige head. Aroma is fruity, roasted, some chocolate and coffee. Creamy mouthfeel. Sweet and malty - not very vinious, some raisins and a touch of vanilla chocolate. Warming and complex.

50 cl bottle. Hazy dark brown colour with a huge beige head. Fine aroma with chocolate and coffee. Flavour is very complex (chocolate, vanilla, prunes etc.) but unfortunately too sweet for me - probably due to the added cane sugar and Belgian sugar candy. Finish is dry, woody, and bitter.

Bottle, 50 cl. Ruby, almost clear body, with a beige to tan head. Sweet aroma with dried fruits, some licorice and berries. Coffee, sugar, dried fruits and bitterness in the flavor, which finishes roasted, with some berries and some bitterness. Full body. Nice, but somewhat special. Maybe the year of cellaring changed it so much, maybe I was a bit drunk last time? Rating: 6-4-6-4-13-3.3. Old rating stands.

Bottled, 1.5ltr champagne bottle at Horsens Beerfestival. Deep brown, unclear beer with a big, beige head. Sweet nose with caramel and hops. The flavor is sweet too, with caramel, hops and some spice and yeast. Full-bodied beer with a sweet finish with some spicy notes. A nice celebration of Danske Ølentusiaster. (061028)

Dark brown color; huge creamy head. Malty aroma, sweet and spicy (cinnamon and nutmeg), with caramel; like the best Belgian ales. Good body structure; flavors of malt, caramel and liquorice in competition; woody. Good bitterness level, with a caramel-liquorice mix as well in the final. With some oxydation it becomes smoother.

Bottle. Dark red brown color with a nice beige head. Sweet malty, lots of chocolate, light roasted aroma and taste. Medium body with a light sweet, light dry finish.
