Commercial Description:
Once a year the the Danish Beer Enthusiasts celebrates "Øllets Dag" - Day of the beer. This year they wanted something special. Together with the founders of the organization, we made a recipe based on a classic Belgian Dark Ale. Ølfabrikken AA is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Pours muddy dark brown with BIG beige head. Aroma is fruity, roasted, some chocolate and coffee. Creamy mouthfeel. Sweet and malty - not very vinious, some raisins and a touch of vanilla chocolate. Warming and complex.

Bottled. Reddish brown coloured. Light brown dense head. Berries, caramel, fruits and light flowery notes in the aroma. Flavour of caramel, fruits and herbs. Nice body. Quite balanced and a bit on the short side hoppywise for a Ølfabrikken beer, but I like it. Is caramelly and fruity in the end. Really good one.

A very good dubbel, especially for one made outside of Belgium, because this style seems to be a challenge for many non Belgian brewers. Anyway, there is alcohol and sweet malt in the aroma. The flavor has more malt and some sugar, some yeast, as well as fruit. Great, thick palate, the way I like the style

500 ml bottle, via one of my Danish traders. Pours a clear amber brown with some garnet highlights on the edges. Excessively large fizzy brown head lasted forever. Tons of sediment in this guy. The nose is heavy fruity malt with light oxidation, a good bit of yeast, and a little alcohol. The flavor is all malt with lots of dark fruits. Finishes with a slightly earthy yeasty note and a little alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a nice creamy texture and soft fizzy carbonation. Just a slight clinginess on the finish makes it linger on. Overall, I thought that this was pretty good. Great depth and complexity with just a touch of aged character.

On tap at Ølbaren. Pours almost black with a tanned head. Very complex with notes of dark fruit, liqourice and caramel. Heavy sweetness but the lovely hoppy bitterness makes sure that it remains very wellbalanced.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a huge dark orange-brown head. The aroma is sweet and very spicy with strong notes of caramel and muscovado sugar, and the spices includes coriander and cloves. The alcohol is also noticable in the aroma. The flavor is very sweet with notes of muscovado sugar, alcohol, caramel, spices, nuts, and some vegetables, leading to a dry nutty and spicy finish, where the alcohol leaves you with a slight burn on the palate.
