Commercial Description:
Editor's note: Brewed by Ølfabrikken at Het Anker, Mechelen, Belgium.

Ølfabrikken Abbey Ale is our interpretation of the dark and strong ales brewed in the Belgian monasteries. A more than hundred year old yeast strain provides the beer with notes of raisins and prunes supplemented by a discrete spicy aroma from coriander. The flavor is big and vinous and dominated by caramel. Enjoy it with braised meat, game and ripe cheese. Of course unpasteurized, unfiltered and refermented in the bottle.

Courtesy Beerlando. Copper color with a sparse white head. Sweet malts, slight Belgian yeast, mild alcohol. Dry fruits, caramel middle, sweet finish on the taste. Some Belgain yeast characters come out as it warms. Sweeter than most dubbels.

Courtesy beerlando. Pours a carbonated reddish ruby, with dark brown highlights. Thin white head persists. Spicy, Belgian candy in the nose, with clove and ripe apples. Flavor is raisin, wheat, thin gumball, bitter spices. Easy to drink, watery mouthfeel, bitter finish.

Beutiful red-orange, hazy - sweet, classic abbey-syuff, vinous nose. Spices, distinct alcohol, dried fruits. Damn GB...

Courtesy beerlando. Pours a dark amber, with a light off white head. Smells pretty sweet, alot of sweet dark fruits, some sweet caramel, candy sugar, and yeast. The flavor lives up to the aromas hype, as its more on the sweet side as well. Candy sugar mixed with dark fruits seem to embody the essence of this brew. The finish had a little bitterness to it, almost a spiciness that was rather intriguing. Solid offering here.

Bottle (75 cl) shared with gnoff, marsiblursi, and larsniclas. Deep amber to copper with a rich off-white head. Dried fruits, milk chocolate, burnt sugar, and yeast in the aroma. Medium bodied and smooth. A bit on the sweet side.

(Bottle, thanks ekstedt) Pours deep dark brown with a creamy of white head. The aroma is sugary, fruity and malty with tones of burned brown sugar, oranges dipped in chocolate cream, nuts, light banana, dark fruits like plums, raisins and sugary figs. The flavour is sugary sweet, light orange citric, marzipan, caramel, mild earth, anise and chocolate. Some floral hops. The mouthfeel is creamy and soft but a bit too sugary sweet. Medium to full bodied.

25.4 oz bottle. Brown with vermillion edges; slightly clouded by tiny bits. Nose is honey, apricot and caramel; a touch medicinal. Tingly cream-of-yeast with resiny drying. Taste is plum and raisin with lingering woody alcohol.
