Commercial Description:
Editor's note: Brewed by Ølfabrikken at Het Anker, Mechelen, Belgium.

Ølfabrikken Abbey Ale is our interpretation of the dark and strong ales brewed in the Belgian monasteries. A more than hundred year old yeast strain provides the beer with notes of raisins and prunes supplemented by a discrete spicy aroma from coriander. The flavor is big and vinous and dominated by caramel. Enjoy it with braised meat, game and ripe cheese. Of course unpasteurized, unfiltered and refermented in the bottle.

Bottle: pours a cloudy orangish-brown with a thin white head, aroma of yeast, sweet caramel and dark fruits, taste is sweet but dry, plenty of dark fruit flavor, spices, very carbonated, a bit of the alcohol in the finish, very nice job with this one.

[Bottle] Pours a hazy, chunky brown with a large tan head. Aroma is slight, with a little tart fruity yeast. Flavor is raisins, malt, yeast, caramel, and alcohol. Sharpness in the flavor adds a bit of dimension.

Bottle. Pours brown with a fluffy tan head. Aroma is quity malty with caramel, raisins, yeast, fruit and mild spices. Flavor is very balanced with caramel malts, brown sugar, dark fruit, raisins, belgian spices and a touch of toffee.Medium to full bodied and well crafted an excellent abbey dubbel.

amazing aroma of raisins, plums, figs, and belgian yeast. flavor is just as complex, nice and sweet, loads of raisins, plums, candi sugar. The carbonation is a little high, and there booze comes through in the finish, but overall this is an excellent dubbel.

750 ml bottle. Brown body with a dense off-white head. Complex aroma of sweet malt, caramel, brown sugar, spices and alcohol. Flavor is sweet, light roasted malt, caramel, dry fruit, some alcohol and a hint of cellar notes. Full bodied and extremely well balanced. Actually the balance is so perfect that it’s difficult to sense the flavors after the first sips. Then just getting better and more flavorful for each sip.

Bottle. Caramel-brown beer with a big tan head. Caramel, yeasty aroma with fig and raisin. Fig, raisin, date flavor with yeast and rich malt. Medium-plus bodied. Rich yeasty, stone fruit, and malt lingers. Nice complexity - some darker malts present. Very good.

Thanks to bitbucket tasting. Notes are getting thin....dark brown with medium head. Lots of dark fruits and caramel mix together to make this quite enjoyable.

Nice brownish colour. A soft taste with some hints of caramel and spices. Also slight hoppiness. A 0.75L bottle tasted at Pikkulintu.
