Commercial Description:
This dark, rich ale is based on the combination of eight different malts and cereals. This yields a complex malt profile with some sweetness, balanced by American hops, which also provides the ale with a citrussy aroma. Can be enjoyed on a cold day by itself or with grilled meat and hearty stews. Ølfabrikken Brown Ale is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

cloudy reddish-brown colour and a little but firm beige head; a bit toasted with some biscuity maltiness; very creamy muthfeel and with a relatively thin malt body; a touch of late sourness gives it a nice balance and an interesting profile; the finish shows long malty and hoppy notes

Draught. Dark, murky copper-brown with a large rocky off-white head. The aroma has lots of soapy orange hops which are most definitely pronounced for this style. Caramel softness in a generally smooth body. Flavours are a bit light and there is some wateriness at times. The hop bitterness drops off fairly quickly too. Sampled at the Københavnske Øldage 2006 on May 20, 2006.

Muddy brown with creamy small head. For a brown ale quiet hoppy nose with plenty of malt work. Hop-earthy front, a bit of sharp in the middle. Felt incoherent at time. Low earthy with high alpha doesn’t mix well here.

Brown body, light brown head; Malty sweet nose, mixed with loads of spicy malt character: loads of walnuts, pine orange, dark chocolate, it has great depth but lacks clarity; Soft body with balance and right amount of carbonation, into a finish that is more acidy then bitter and is actually a bit sour: again with loads of malty nuts, peanuts, a little very dark chocolate and great, great lenght.

Hazy ruby with a lasting off-white head. Malt aroma with some fruity yeast notes. Dry malty flavour, with some licorice and citrus.

Pours brown with an off-white diminishing head.Sweet with a light sourness. Aromas of caramel, cascade hops, pepper and a hint of yeast. Medium to full bodied. Bitter finish with more yeast aromas. Nice Brown Ale with relatively strong hops aromas. Reminds me a bit of a thin US barley wine...
