Commercial Description:
This dark, rich ale is based on the combination of eight different malts and cereals. This yields a complex malt profile with some sweetness, balanced by American hops, which also provides the ale with a citrussy aroma. Can be enjoyed on a cold day by itself or with grilled meat and hearty stews. Ølfabrikken Brown Ale is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Bottle. Dark chocolate, light sour and sweat. Large light brown colored creamy head, normal long lasting; dark red body. Dark and bitter taste, very long duration, silky aftertaste. Medium to full body, dry and creamy, soft carbonation. A moderate astringent finish. A very nice danish beer!

Bottle. Pours a deep brown amber with an off-white/beige head. Sweet, malty aroma with lots of hops. Notes of caramel. Flavour is sweet. Chewy malt. Caramel and notes of nuts. Dry finish, sweet and slightly bitter. Nice one – not as cloyingly sweet as I think brown ales often are. 02-05-08.

Bottle. A hazy, brown beer with a biege head. A bit small. Slightly oxidized aroma, with caramel, roasted malt and some hoppy fruityness. There’s some oxidation in the flavor too, making me check the date-stamp, but ok. My cellaring ok too I know. Doesn’t matter, it was oxidation in a nice way. Roasted malt, caramel and a lingering bitterness as well. Medium to full body, slitghtly effervescent and rather dry. Fruity in the finish though, citrusy and bitter. A beer that starts nice, but turns out to be a bit boring after a while, but still it’s a really good brown ale. (080305)

(Draught at Pikkulintu on 2008-01-24) A pleasant brown ale. Lots of malts in taste. Some hops can be felt, too.

Bottle. Cellphone rating (lacks complete notes): Very malty character in both aroma and flavour. The hops are mostly present in the end. Nice brown ale for sure.
