Commercial Description:
This dark, rich ale is based on the combination of eight different malts and cereals. This yields a complex malt profile with some sweetness, balanced by American hops, which also provides the ale with a citrussy aroma. Can be enjoyed on a cold day by itself or with grilled meat and hearty stews. Ølfabrikken Brown Ale is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Mahogany with a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma is wonderfully malty with notes of roasted malt, caramel, a bit of coffee, burnt sugar and the flavour has a light sweetness, notes of roasted malt, coffee, caramel and nuts. It’s a smooth and powerful BA - nice!

Bügelverschlußflasche: Hazy, brownish coloured, small, persistent tanned with a good lace, solid (berries) fruity nose, mixed with roasted malt and malty (or hoppy ??) bitterness; solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, soft MF; fruity-chocolatey-bittersweet finish. A very decent brew..........

Cloudy brown coloured, small brown head. Roasted malts in aroma, obvious coffee. Malty flavour, quite bitter for a brown ale, especially in finish. Coffee also present in flavour. Thick mouthfeel. Interesting brown ale, but not really my favourite.

Hazy brown Begie head. The sight of it makes me warm inside. When I first smell it brings lots of chocolat, some coffee and roasted malt. Flavor: malty, chocolat and caramel. The mouthfeel is wonderful. Round and smooth.

500ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki) Orangy-red, small head. Cold, but a decent chocolaty malty aroma, pleasant hops too. Slightly sour malty twist, but body is very full and smooth. Good solid brew with a long malty and hoppy finish .

Rerate of (6-4-8-4-14=3.6): Draught (SOPP2007, Helsinki) Orangy-brown,thin head. Coffee and slight vegetable aroma. Ginger and richly roasted malt, combined with a really pervaisive bitterness. All very well combined in a strong ESB-like package.
