Commercial Description:
This dark, rich ale is based on the combination of eight different malts and cereals. This yields a complex malt profile with some sweetness, balanced by American hops, which also provides the ale with a citrussy aroma. Can be enjoyed on a cold day by itself or with grilled meat and hearty stews. Ølfabrikken Brown Ale is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Thin beige head. Muddy opaque brown-black body. Very little aroma; some roastiness. Dry, hoppy taste of cocoa with pine needle notes. Dry, chocolatey aftertaste. Nice, drinkable, but a bit one-dimensional. (0.25l draft.)

Bottled. Dark brown colour with mediumsized white head. Aroma is fruits, earth, yeast and some dark fruits. Flavour is quite sour, but otherwise similar to what the aroma was. Some slight yeastyness in finish.

Dark brown colored, little light brown head. Sweet, caramelly, lemony and mildly chocolaty aroma with standard American hoppy flowerness. Medium bodied, creamy palate. Flavor is as aroma, aftertaste turns out to be soapy, still dries strongly.

Ruby red color, small off-white head. Sweet malty, a bit caramelly aroma. Dry, a bit wheaty mouthfeel, flourish and sourish. Maybe some instant coffee in it plus yeasty notes.

(Botlted) Dark amber with a small, bubbly head. Fruity, quite mild aroma with some grainy malt. Toffee-malty, not very strong flavor with mellow fruitiness and berry hints. Medium-bodied, slightly sweet palate with low carbonation. A nice, hop-accented brown ale.

Bottle. Hazy dark brown colour with a medium good creamy head. Aroma of good toasty malts, caramel, some smoke and bit hops. Flavour of toasty malts, caramel, bit of chocolate and nuts. Hoppy bitterness in the finish.
